Visually spectacular, intensely action-packed and powerfully prophetic since its debut, Blade
Runner returns in Ridley Scott’s definitive Final Cut, including extended scenes and never-beforeseen
special effects. In a signature role as 21st-century detective Rick Deckard, Harrison Ford
brings his masculine-yet-vulnerable presence to this stylish noir thriller. In a future of high-tech
possibility soured by urban and social decay, Deckard hunts for fugitive, murderous replicants -
and is drawn to a mystery woman whose secrets may undermine his soul.

Believe it or not, but this is the first time I've ever seen this title. And being that this was the Final Cut version, I have no way of saying whether or not it is an improvement over the previous versions. What I can say is that it was good, good enough to warrant a second viewing some time in the future. Technically it is astounding, and that is before I even get to the Blu-Ray enhancements. The dark, sci-fi meets urbain noir setting convinces to the point that I almost forgot the actors where on a set, though the occasional matte painting did stand out to ruin my immersion ever so slightly.
Let me add that the Blu-Ray treatment can be considered reference quality. Again, I can't speak of the magnitude of any improvements but I loved what I saw and what I heard. I'm not sure that the creators intended from the start to create a seminal piece of filmmaking, but that is exactly what happened here. At its core it's quite a simple tale; the fun comes in how one interprets what is conveyed. In that regard, repeated viewing is a must. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to make sense of the unicorn.

A Sci-Fi classic. Moody and atmospheric. Has also not really aged. BD does it justice.
