I have to admit to being blown away by Rowling's ending of the series. As each book came out, I became more and more convinced that it would end "I woke up and it was all a dream" or "they all blew each other up". No, Ms Rowling tied up all the loose ends and gave the book the most plausible, best ending to a series I have ever read.
However, I DO have a problem Mr Potter himself; am I the only person who has noticed him develop from a likeable little boy into a whiny, drippy, complaining adolescent. Now, it is possible that JK decided to create a realistic teenager, in which case she was brilliant - teenagers are, after all, normally whiny, drippy and complaining. but if this was the case, I wish she had read the book on "Making your Heroes Likeable".
I mean, in the first book, Harry lives in an abusive, horrible household. He has the opportunity to go off to MAGICAL boarding school where he makes friends that would (literally) die for him, is a hero-figure and he finds himself. By the last book, he is bitching about being magical, about the pressure on him, is sulking about a friend who has just saved his life, etc etc.
Frankly, if their had been an eighth book, I would be writing to JK every day and begging her to kill off Harry.

It may be the last but it was by far the most entralling of the series. I literally could not put the book down until I have finished reading at least the last page of the chapter.
The twists & turns keep you thoroughly intwined in the story allowing you to become part of the characters' life & death struggle.
Not giving anything away - you'll either hate the ending or love it.
Best by far!!
