When I finally had the book in my hands I did the dance of joy. Within minutes, and pages into the first chapter I knew that this book was going to be different. Chapter 2, entitled "Spinners End" confirmed it. Ms Rowling was deviating from her usual pattern! Oh boy, I could barely contain my excitement.
Seven hours later, I sat in my room, tears streaming down my face. How could it happen? I never saw it coming! Although my opinion since that first reading of what happened in the Lightning Struck Tower has changed, it doesn’t make it any easier. I am still devastated and even though I have read the book at least 6 times now, I still sob my heart out.
Well, in a nutshell, I loved the book. It’s fast becoming my new favourite (replacing Goblet of Fire). As far as I am concerned, Jo Rowling has taken Harry Potter to a whole new level. The boy has matured, and I found myself almost beaming with pride at certain times.
What I really liked about the book was the fact that she laid rest to many of the side stories that had been lurking about in the last five books. But now, Harry faces an almost impossible task - searching for and destryoing 4 horcruxes. The odds are stacked against him, and he knows the dangerous task ahead could result in his death.
I'll just sum up and say that I have much respect for Jo Rowling. I never expected to be such a fan of the books, but they touched my heart in a way that no other book has. I don't know if i can wait for two years for book 7, but I will surely try.
