Breaking Benjamin have been my favorite band for the past 4 years now and this album is by far the best one yet. It's the perfect follow up the the hugely successful PHOBIA.
All 11 tracks are superb and I've never skipped any of them, this is one album that you can put on and listen to it repeatedly. It contains a great blend of hard and soft songs with BB's characteristic sound mixed with Ben's unique and powerful lyrics and voice.
Lyrically this album is awesome, it is a lot more straightforward than previous BB albums were Ben's lyrics were a bit enigmatic. This album is darker and much deeper than previous efforts.
The first single, I Will Not Bow, which is on the soundtrack of the movie The Surrogates, to some may not fit in with the rest of the songs but it is still a great song with a great riff and drum beats.
The songs, Anthem of the Angels and Without You have lovely strings which encompany the guitar riffs.
They are two beautiful songs, especially Anthem of the Angels with is quite soulful.
The ballad, Give Me A Sign, is perfectly placed between Crawl and Hopeless and is beautifully composed, especially the end.
Crawl and Hopeless are my two favourite songs off the album, they are powerful with Ben's low down, deep scream/growl. Crawl features excellent riffs and Ben's growl during the chorus. Hopeless has punishing, hard drums with an equal guitar tune. Add to that powerful lyrics and a blood curdling scream from Ben and you have an amazing metal track.
The title track is a very emotional one and is hard to not connect to it, especially when taking note of Ben's physical problems. It's a song that most people can relate to.
All in all, this album is utterly amazing and well worth it-even for those who aren't BB fans. Its a great testimony to rock music.
10 out of 10, best album I ever bought.
Lights Out is a quite bouncy tune with catchy lyrics and fits in well with the rest.
