First item I have bought and the reviews are all spot on. Easy to set up and even easier to operate. Has a bit of a boring OS and could do with a better looking skin. But operating wise. Smooth, great picture quality via the HDMI cable. Can confirm the very slight lag time when flipping through a folders contents. Due to the auto-preview. Little gadget works like a dream. Would definitely recommend the item to anyone looking for a robust, easy to operate media player. Will still put a drive when the prices come down.

Yip, received this box Friday.
I installed a 2.5 SATA drive, it works perfectly. Tried external USB, equally great. The seek times are great, starting previews is a dream, user interface is great - a bit dated compared to the XBox, but there is promised skins.
One thing - get the latest firmware, it is so worth it. The update includes BluRay ISO support. It plays like a dream on a LCD TV.
This little box played every file I could throw at it.
I've read up quite a bit on this box. Don't bother with the wireless adapter, it can do DivX and such, but forget about MKV and DVD/BR ISO's. The fault is not here with the box, it is hindered by the wireless bandwidth. If you want wireless, plug the bog into a proper wireless router with a cable, from there connect to your PC.
The other nice thing is that the box is complete. There is nothing else needed. Even an HDMI cable is included. And it handles progressive and interlaced.
Come. Click on "Add to cart" - you know you want it. Just remember that you would want a 2.5 drive as well.

This is the first media player I brought so far, before I use HTPC.
Pros:
1. It plays many variety format, includes Real Media.
Not much standalone player on the market supports Real Media codec.
2. Comes with all require accessories to use, even include HDMI cable.
3. Easy installation.
4. Quiet operation, you can hear a little fan sound.
Cons:
1. Torrent can't select the file that you want to download.
eg. X.torrent contain file A, B and C, can't choose B only.
To over come this problem, require custom firmware.
2. Not able to change work group name.
Otherwise, Box Office is great. Worth the money.

Mixed feelings about this one…
My (over)ambitious plan was to purchase PBO along with its Wi-Fi dongle, and then use UPnP to stream videos from a PC over wireless. The dongle worked like a charm, connected seamlessly to my wireless network, and the little device detected my UPnP server right away. The playback was reasonably smooth, so far so good… The problems started when the video was paused – the stream would not recover. This was a major pain, as the fast forward didn’t work in wireless UPnP mode, either. This essentially means that once the stream is broken, one would have to start watching the movie all over, praying it doesn’t happen again. Needless to say, the inconvenience factor was too great to continue using the device this way.
One could argue that my wireless signal wasn’t all that good, or that the little device doesn’t like my media server (TVersity). Well, just for fun, I placed in its place a PC running XBMC, which worked as advertised, pause and all.
Too late to return the device, decided to make the best out of it, forget about wireless UPnP and attached an external hard drive to its USB port. Totally different experience – the device was happily playing every single codec and/or file format I could find!
With an external drive attached to its USB port (and, I would imagine, an internal drive), PBO turns into a very competent media player. There are a few minor annoyances worth noting, though:
- The font size. There will be a struggle to see the writing on any TV smaller than 32”. Especially on analogue models (does anyone still use those?) – the letters tend to bleed.
- Search function. There is either no search function, or I was too dumb to find it. On a drive with lots of videos, one should really put the videos into A to Z folders, or risk a thumb strain.
- While scrolling, the cursor “sticks” on each and every media file for a brief moment, until the device works out its particulars – which gets quite annoying.
All in all, if you need a competent conventional media player – definitely better than average. If you are looking for a UPnP player – look elsewhere.

This is the second media player I buy in this year. Partly because the other one is a useless white elephant. This toy is in a completely different class. I have used it to watch some music video's (heavy classical stuff!) and a few movies I ripped. I also tested an MP4 ripped on a mac by a friend. By the way these movies are legal, I have bought every single one of them at TOP CD, Kalahari & Take2! It play's my MP4's, H.264's, DIVXes etc. Lately I only encode using MP4 and will ultimately backup/rip all my movies to this format. This thing rocks!
