Cons:
- It needs to be reiterated just how rudimentary the song navigation on this unit is. You CANNOT navigate by artist, song, album etc. You can ONLY navigate the directory structure as it was placed on the mp3 player.
- Hold in "menu" for 2 seconds to navigate...eh? Not very intuitive.
- No display of album track number. Only "Track 391 of 2447."
- Navigation is slow. E.g. an instant's delay after pressing scroll up/down when navigating files. Doesn't sound important, but all those 'instants' add up.
- When navigating, you can't adjust volume.
- Volume adjustment moves in fairly big steps at the lower range. I can't get the volume low enough to be just above my work environment ambient sound level. It's always just a little (like 2dB) too loud.
Pros:
Don't need bloatware to transfer files, beats an iPod in this regard. Cheap. Works fine apart from these interface design issues.
I've had a SANSA Clip 4GB for 2 years now, it's a much more refined mp3 player, none of the above issues. Not quite as cheap but a better option IMO. (Unless you want the colour screen..pure gimmick to me, I don't use it.) I also have an iPod NANO 2Gb and iPod 30Gb, I'd take the T.Sonic above those, but the SANDISK is my favourite. I'm going back to that for daily use.

BEautiful screen, good sound, easy controls. I am satisfied.

While obviously not an ipod, this device does work pretty well.
Build: 7/10 - Very light, very small.
Sound Quality: 7/10 - No better or worse than an ipod. The packaged headphones are a tinny, but with decent headphones (or played through a hifi it sounds good. (I'm a sound engineer)
Screen: 7/10 - Good
Radio: 8/10 - Very good. The ability to record radio is a bit gimmicy, but the wavs it generates are good.
Voice recorder: 6/10 - The mic is the weakpoint.
Navigation: 2/10 - This is the sore point. Firstly you need to know that long-pressing the menu button while playing music will bring up the file explorer which allows you to navigate to another album. It's very clunky as you can't just go to the next album, you need to click up up up down down down down to navigate the directory structure etc.
Overall: 6/10 - Navigation is the big downside here, but for R600 its a good deal for an 8gb player.
