Dispatched in 5 to 7 working days

Of course you want to know — When do I get it?

We strive at all times to get it to you sooner but here are some indications:

If we say In Stock, we dispatch same day (if ordered before 14:00 on a working day) and depending on where you stay it will be with you the next working day (Main Centres) or the next working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional).

If we say In Stock (You can also collect in cpt), the stock is available from our Cape Town warehouse and you can collect on the same working day if your payment has been authorised and you collect before 5pm.

If we say dispatched between X and Y days then it takes X to Y days to receive from a supplier and it will then be with you within a working day after dispatched (Main Centres) or the working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional Areas).

Imports are a best effort service, we strive to get it to you as soon as possible within the guidelines above but it's not always within our complete control so if something goes wrong we will let you know.

And then there's a Friday, sigh... Try order early on a Friday, we can then try our best to get it to you on the same day (Main centres), otherwise we will have to get it to you during the next week.

If this is all too confusing, call us on 0861 222 989 or send an e-mail to info@takealot.com. One of our friendly employees will get back to you pronto.

Description

Dark Void is a new sci-fi action-adventure game that combines an adrenaline-fuelled blend of aerial and on-foot combat set in a parallel universe called “The Void”. Players will take on the role of Will; a pilot dropped into incredible circumstances. While on a routine air cargo flight his plane crashes in the Bermuda triangle leading him to be trapped in the Void. This unlikely hero soon finds himself swept into a desperate struggle for survival at the head of a group called The Survivors. Caught in the Void, these resistance fighters are battling to hold off a mysterious alien race that plans to threaten Earth.

Dark Void’s unique combination of in-air and on-ground combat creates a thrilling new gameplay dynamic to the third-person shooter experience. Taking 3D action to a whole new level, Dark Void’s vertical combat system allows players to dangle from thousand foot drops as they take cover and drop enemies from above and below, bringing a whole new sense of vulnerability and thrill to the player. Defying gravity in vertical combat is only half the battle as, over time, Will is upgraded to a powerful rocket pack which allows for fierce in-air combat as gamers are able to fly through the void at unparallel speeds shooting down anything that gets in their path. Blasting away at massive bosses has never been this much fun as Dark Void offers a unique grip system made up of a variety of grip-based mini-games including skyjacking UFOs mid-flight.

Product Reviews (1)

Riaan, Kloof. 17 February 2010

Way back in 1988 a game by the name of Rocket Ranger was released for the Commodore 64. I loved it. Everything about it was great, but the best part was the fact that you had a rocket pack strapped to your back and that you could fly to your various missions, but by today's standards this game is really showing its age. Dark Void reminded me a lot of Rocket Ranger, not in content, but in theme. Both play off during or just before WWII, and both feature a dashing hero armed with a rocket pack.

I must also be the only person that went to see The Rocketeer (1991) in the cinema. I loved the concept and the sheer adventurism of that film, it was sadly also overlooked by the masses (even though it's garnered a cult following today), this film was the first thing that popped in my mind when I first a trailer for Dark Void.

The main character eventually finds a rocket pack, after a short on-foot level, and you take to the skies. The plot itself is fairly entertaining, if a little generic, you know the sort, alien invaders from another dimension, trying to enslave humankind using superior technology. They travel to our dimension using a rift in space (Bermuda Triangle) as a portal between worlds, between our world and the Void. So its up to our jetpack totting hero to save the day.

The game shifts between ground based actions with the option to take it to the sky. At any time you can fire up your jetpack, and blast off into the unknown. Controlling our hero is fairly easy, but it might take some time getting used to the standard 3rd person Gears of War controls for the ground based action and the flightsim type controls for the aerial bits.

Overall reviews for Dark Void have been unfairly harsh in my humble opinion, people complaining about technical issues (of which I have had none), and the fact that it's "uninspiring" and forgetful. I dont know about them, but I havent played a game like this in a long time, its almost oldschool in its game play, it took be back to the days of Wing Commander, and Crimson Skies, in a word, it was FUN.

I recommend Dark Void for someone who wants a decent challenge, who might enjoy the fairly unique game play with the rocket pack. Also it doesnt look too bad either; it does use the Unreal 3 engine after all.
