Of course you want to know — When do I get it?

We strive at all times to get it to you sooner but here are some indications:

If we say In Stock, we dispatch same day (if ordered before 14:00 on a working day) and depending on where you stay it will be with you the next working day (Main Centres) or the next working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional).

If we say In Stock (You can also collect in cpt), the stock is available from our Cape Town warehouse and you can collect on the same working day if your payment has been authorised and you collect before 5pm.

If we say dispatched between X and Y days then it takes X to Y days to receive from a supplier and it will then be with you within a working day after dispatched (Main Centres) or the working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional Areas).

Imports are a best effort service, we strive to get it to you as soon as possible within the guidelines above but it's not always within our complete control so if something goes wrong we will let you know.

And then there's a Friday, sigh... Try order early on a Friday, we can then try our best to get it to you on the same day (Main centres), otherwise we will have to get it to you during the next week.

If this is all too confusing, call us on 0861 222 989 or send an e-mail to info@takealot.com. One of our friendly employees will get back to you pronto.

Description

As war looms on the horizon, the mighty Archadian Empire begins a campaign to subjugate its neighbours. The small kingdom of Dalmasca shares their fate, and it is here that our tale begins.

Two years after the fall of Dalmasca, the citizens are without guidance and direction. In the capital city of Rabanastre, the denizens gather and await the introduction of Archadia's new consul. To Vaan, a young man living on the streets of Rabanastre, the Empire is a hated enemy who took the life of his brother, the only family he had left. In an effort to exact revenge, Vaan hatches a plot to break into the palace and steal from the occupying imperials. There, he gets more than he bargained for as he runs into Princess Ashe, the sole surviving heir to the Dalmascan throne. Together, the two will embark on an incredible journey through Ivalice, tracing the mysteries behind the Archadian Empire's invasion. The choices they make will determine the very fate of the world.

Features:

  • Active Dimension Battle - The Active Dimension Battle (ADB) system enables players to move seamlessly between exploration and combat. Jarring random battles and their load times are a thing of the past, keeping you in the world from start to finish
  • An All-New Combat System - Characters act according to an intricate gambit system of actions and reactions that you determine. As they fight, characters earn license points that can be spent to broaden their knowledge of magic, arms and armour

Rudi, South Africa. 6 March 2007

It looks good and it plays good and it's fun but my main critique is with the storyline. It's so far removed from anything FF that I just couldn't get into it. I mean just look at the main protagonist. It isn't even his story...he's just along for the ride. I don't even understand why you get to pilot him (probably because of those lovely high cheekbones of his) since he could disappear mid-story and it wouldn't influence the plot one bit. Yes, this game is excellent and yes, it is one of the best entries in the series but better than FFVII? Um, no.

Jay, BIG BAY BEACH CLUB. 5 December 2007

A solid 9 for this game.
I was unable to score this game any higher, only because it failed in one of the most important facets of the game, the summons.

In all Final Fantasy games, the summons played a crucial part of the game.
The summons were grossly underpowered compared to the Quickenings, it is a shame, I absolutely loved the design/art of the summons.

A worthy addition to the Final Fantasy legacy.

Werner, Meyerspark. 9 April 2007

This is by far one of the best FF released in the series. It has intreigueing characters, an interesting storyline and most of all a world filled with facinating beasts.

This game offers a lot to the player. The license system is the awesome and the new combat system takes the gaming experience to an all new level of perfection.

I would suggest this game to any fans of the series and newcomers as well.

Pieter, Durbanville. 3 March 2007

The best Final Fantasy Game to date, maybe with the exception of FFX and X-2.
A definte must-have for all FF fans. The turnbased system has been virtually removed and the combat is a lovely experience. The story is wonderful and the cutscenes fantastic. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this game, except the age rating, why is it 16? All the rest have it at 13 or 12?

Anyone who owns a playstation 2 should purchase this game.

Ashley, BONELA. 20 December 2010

Excellent Game with over 120 hours gameplay.

Graphics are brilliant n battles are totally different. Overall itz a very challenging game and will keep you occupied for many hours.

Excellent (coz itz different n hard), but not better than ffviii (ps1 - the best ff game ever) & ffx / ffx-2.

Wendy, Walmer. 20 March 2007

Ive played Final Fantasy I all the way to XII...and to be honest this is in my Top 3!

Its brilliant in every aspect - graphics take you breath away with outstanding CG Cutscenes - Sound is awesome, the sound track and voice acting is the best its ever been! Gameplay - the contrvercial real time system, is the best for me, no more random battle wasting your time, its smooth, flawless, and Square did an incredible job, its far the best aspect!

Any game fan MUST buy this - and FFFans, there is nothing better than this!

Mahlatse, Highveld. 30 April 2007

I like everything about this game, the new battle system, gambit,
licence system, and the new age rating (16+). Only had it for
a week (played 5 hours already), and i am impressed. Good enough
for me to get FFXIII and PS3. Mabenito

Bradley, Malvern. 26 March 2007

Only played it for a short time at a friends house, but it is brilliant. FF Series is truly the greatest ever Console Game of all time. Get it if you can!

Kent, South Africa. 13 August 2007

Unfortunately I don't see how this game made it to the top 10.
It does not live into Final Fantasy standards.

The story is almost non-existant as the characters do not develop at all.
Throughout the entire game for instance you do not learn any characters' personality.
Fran only has 2 lines in the entire game or something.

The graphics are amazing, no joke. This part it lives up to.
The FMV's are very crisp and clear and no pixelation takes place.

Music and Sound, I have to disagree with you and say that the sound track for Final Fantasy XII sucked. It's not good at all compared to Nobuo Uematsu's tracks from the previous works of Square-Enix. The music is boring and dull. I would never consider buying the OST.

Playability: Dead. You barely have any control of the game as it feels like one big MMORPG where you tell your characters what to do and when. You yourself only control maybe 1 out of 7 characters at any given time and it feels extremely automated.

If you like games where you walk into battle and let your characters fight/play the game for you and wait for 5 mins for your HP to recover then run into battle again; you'll love this.

For some reason everyone loves this game, I think it's been so long since a proper Final Fantasy came out that the standards are slowly decreasing.

Ever since I can remember the final fantasy series has been cocerned with improving its visuals and graphics and final fantasy XII is no exception. the graphics are amazing and despite it only being on PS2 it manages to milk out everything from the old console. The New Battle system is much more innovative than the previous titles and adds a whole new depth to game. Where as before you would be running around admiring the amazing scenery and landscapes that the final fantasy series is known for when suddenly an annoying battle screen would come up. There is no more of that and now you are able to see all the creatures there are in the area meaning you can now strategise a way to get through hopefull unnoticed if need be. Now unlike before where all battles where one on one now you can easily be fighting up to 10 different creatures all with their own way of thinking. Other than the new battle system being in real time which means no more turn based action (YAY!) is the new gambit system. The new gambit system adds a whole new depth to the game and becomes very useful later on in the game. Gambits basically are preprogrammed orders set by you which are given to your characters to do when a certain scenario comes up, for example if one of your characters is about to die you can have a gambit set to cast renew to an ally with less than 20% HP if the chartacter with the gambit is not currently occupied with something else. Also you can combine gambits meaning you can make a whole system that would deal with situations without you having to do anything yourself. this brings alot more options and varieties into the game although some might say it reduces gameplay gambits can still be turned off if you like. Also another feature than brings depth to the game is the new licence board. the licence board resembles that of a chess board with its blocks where each block represents a certain skill, weapon, armour, technique or spell which by unlocking with licence points allows you to use the respective ability. The thing that makes thinking out what block to buy is the fact that a previous block must be chained to the one you about to buy meaning you will have to think out what you going to buy carefully, a bad decision could end up meaning you wont be able to use that new sword of yours. As for the sound this is the only are i feel could have been improved while the music is enjoyable there is not nearly enough variety and after playing for a while can become repetitive. Its business as usual for the story deparment, the stroy rises then falls drags on for a bit and then suddnely explodes with comprehension and plot twists multiple times keeping you so interrested you just want to play even more just to get to the next chapter of the story. As for gameplay time which recent titles of late have been lacking (eg God Of War, brilliant game but very short only about 8 hours) Final Fantasy has between 50 to 100 hours in it depending on the players skill which can even go longer if you the kind that has to solve every problem find every treasure and do every quest this can easily go 120+ hours.

In short Final Fantasy 12 (or XII) is a brilliant game making up for all the short comings of the recent Final Fantasy titles. Im glad to say 12 is a lucky number with this series and you are very unlikely to be dissapointed with Final Fantasy XII

Kieran, Hillcrest. 5 November 2008

This is a truly incredible game, as with all FF games the graphics are superb and the artistic direction on this title is incredible. The gameplay however is quite a departure from previous FF titles with Gambit System, which allows you to "program" the responses of various characters during battle. It makes for fun strategic thinking but I still find the older ATB systems more intuitive and easier to understand. The License board is a horrible way to level up though as you cant be sure what abilities you might open up as most of the licenses are invisible before you open up an adjacent one which means you cant plan in advance. The story is definitely weaker than previous FF games but still interesting. Nervtheless this game has become a classic and is one that all PS2 owners should have in their collection, if not for the fact that it is a FF game but because it is the most stunning game to date for the PS2.
