Of course you want to know — When do I get it?
We strive at all times to get it to you sooner but here are some indications:
If we say In Stock, we dispatch same day (if ordered before 14:00 on a working day) and depending on where you stay it will be with you the next working day (Main Centres) or the next working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional).
If we say In Stock (You can also collect in cpt), the stock is available from our Cape Town warehouse and you can collect on the same working day if your payment has been authorised and you collect before 5pm.
If we say dispatched between X and Y days then it takes X to Y days to receive from a supplier and it will then be with you within a working day after dispatched (Main Centres) or the working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional Areas).
If we say Pre-order it means that your item will be dispatched to you on the day it's released.
We always try our very best to get it to you as soon as possible but cannot guarantee same day delivery.
Imports are a best effort service, we strive to get it to you as soon as possible within the guidelines above but it's not always within our complete control so if something goes wrong we will let you know.
And then there's a Friday, sigh... Try order early on a Friday, we can then try our best to get it to you on the same day (Main centres), otherwise we will have to get it to you during the next week.
If this is all too confusing, call us on 0861 222 989 or send an e-mail to info@takealot.com. One of our friendly employees will get back to you pronto.

This is the most kick ass star ocean i have played
Charl, South Africa. 20 June 2009
First off I haven’t played any of the previous Star Ocean titles the closest I ever came was watching the 2001 anime entitled: ” Star Ocean: EX” and that was pretty much my only contact with the franchise. But having said that I have played some of the games that the two developers namely Square Enix and tri-Ace have developed in the past so I knew what to expect when it came to gameplay and quality. Though the unknown factor was how well the two companies would work together to bring us the next installment of the Star Ocean franchise, and so far I am impressed with what I found so let us begin. And the first thing I will be discussing in my first impressions is the voice acting and story, which has gotten knocked by most reviewers.
Yes the so called “dubious” voice acting and story gets mentioned in most online reviews but I think I can shed some light on this due to my experience regarding Japanese culture and having watched my fair share of anime in dubbed. The voice acting is not bad in fact the lip synching and the way the voice actors carry themselves is brilliant, the issue comes in that some of the voices of the English voice actors is rather how can I put it “abrasive” personally I love them while I can imagine it might grate someone’s ears. And some of the English voice actors from games like Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey and Final Fantasy make their return. So they aren’t new to this experience and are seasoned voice actors with lots of experience.
The next thing that came up in a lot of the reviews was the rather “cheesy” story and characters, this has always been the bread and butter of JRPG’s since time began and it rarely deviates from the norm. Even more so for Star Ocean: The Last Hope, our main protagonist has of course some issues and he is being tailed by a female who obviously is love struck with him but he is to daft to notice. Then we have your token annoying as hell girl and of course your token mysterious character in this case a pointy eared “space elf”, mix in some quirky Japanese comedy and mannerisms which no one outside of Otaku would get. So no personally I don’t think there is anything wrong with the voice acting or the story it just does not “translate” well to western audiences.
To say the graphics in Star Ocean: The Last Hope is good would be a understatement, this has to be one of the best looking titles for the Xbox 360 next to Lost Odyssey, Star Ocean: The Last Hope consists on some very big environments which includes everything from lush green jungle environments, to barren iced over frigid arctic wastelands. The amount of character detail and environmental detail is astounding to say the least. I only noticed a slight drop in frames when there was a lot of activity on screen and by a lot I mean a lot and another issue I found was NPCs suffering from a fair amount “pop-in” during big battles but this does not distract from the game overall. Other than those mentioned issue I found the game to be highly detailed and very vibrant.
I am not going to touch much on the voice acting as I think it comes down to preference and I have already talked about it and I think i it annoys you that much you can always turn it off and read the subtitles. In the music department Motoi Sakuraba is back yet again so you can expect some epic sweeping orchestral melodies which fit’s in nicely with the fantasy setting that Star Ocean: The Last Hope creates. Only thing that is truly missing here is that the game has no support for a secondary language in this case Japanese like with Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata as that would have satisfied the hardcore JRPG fans out there. But personally I don’t find this a huge loss as I can deal with the voice acting and have heard far far worse in my time.
But were Star Ocean: The Last Hope truly shines is the “Blind Side” system, which involves you luring an enemy into targeting you and then pressing the B button at the right time and evading an incoming attack. Which then triggers a small cutscene as you attack the enemy’s weak spot from behind for double damage and more criticals. However, this system also allows your enemies who fall victim to your attack to perform their own counter attacks, so performing this attack isn’t always wise and should be time perfectly. Although the Rush and Blindsiding elements of the battle system certainly add to the system battle system of Star Ocean: The Last Hope using the good old attacks with the Blind Side system works wonders.
After spending 3-4 hours with Star Ocean: The Last Hope I can truly see myself enjoying this title to the very end, I can also see it eating a lot of my play time as it is a total of 3 disks. It is also no surprise that the Xbox has been getting some really “stinker” JRPG titles of late The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery comes to mind, which was less than impressive. However, Star Ocean: The Last Hope has broken this trend and I can easily say that this has to be the best JRPG title for the Xbox this year. And if you are any self respecting fan of the JRPG genre you should check it out, just look past the quirky story and voice acting and you will find a real gem of a game.
