In stock (You can also collect in CPT)

Of course you want to know — When do I get it?

We strive at all times to get it to you sooner but here are some indications:

If we say In Stock, we dispatch same day (if ordered before 14:00 on a working day) and depending on where you stay it will be with you the next working day (Main Centres) or the next working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional).

If we say In Stock (You can also collect in cpt), the stock is available from our Cape Town warehouse and you can collect on the same working day if your payment has been authorised and you collect before 5pm.

If we say dispatched between X and Y days then it takes X to Y days to receive from a supplier and it will then be with you within a working day after dispatched (Main Centres) or the working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional Areas).

Imports are a best effort service, we strive to get it to you as soon as possible within the guidelines above but it's not always within our complete control so if something goes wrong we will let you know.

And then there's a Friday, sigh... Try order early on a Friday, we can then try our best to get it to you on the same day (Main centres), otherwise we will have to get it to you during the next week.

If this is all too confusing, call us on 0861 222 989 or send an e-mail to info@takealot.com. One of our friendly employees will get back to you pronto.

Description

Call of Duty tackles a whole new era as Black Ops plunges you into the murky height of the Cold War and history's most secretive battles. The world's most popular first person shooter places you in the most dangerous conflict zones of the late '60s.

From the jungles of Vietnam to the snowy wastes of the Ural mountains, you and your team must operate behind enemy lines and using only the limited technology of the time. Luckily this includes air support such as the SR-71 Blackbird stealth plane, as well as deadly attack helicopters and armoured personnel carriers.

Like any Call of Duty game the multiplayer will set the standard for all other console games, with enhanced customisation tools, playable vehicles and a revamped scoring system. There will also be a unique four-player co-operative mode, allowing you to experience some of the most mysterious theatres of war in astonishing new detail.

Features:

  • Retro Warfare: Call of Duty explodes the myths of the Cold War as you join a team of Black Ops soldiers caught up in the fight against communism in Vietnam and beyond.
  • Ammu-Nation: Use new special ammo including an explosive crossbow, Dragon's Breath flame rounds for your shotgun and a range of other period weapons.
  • Twisted Metal: Take the controls of the iconic SR-71 Blackbird as you direct operations from high above or jump into an attack chopper in Vietnam for some close-up action.
  • Online Perks: Create-a-Class 2.0 customisation tool lets you personalise your online battles even more, with new perks and revamped rules for killstreaks.
  • Team Player: Online four-player co-operative mode lets you team up with fellow players as you take on the might of the Soviet military machine together.

i honestly have no clue why their are people that bitch about this game because i love it !
the graphics sucks, erm ! well then you have a shyte system and are not running it on high.
I think the graphics are good, not brilliant but its good! The Story is good, cut scenes arent all that bad. gameplay is short but then again its mostly for MP. The zombie mode is excellent! love it !

Overall its not a step back for me, its on par with all the other COD titles i have played and enjoyed.

Above a review appreciating a good game and not a tantrum from a Emo child ! :>

Warrick P's opening line is he has no clue why people are complaining about the game?

Here are the reasons; Activision rushed the release of the PC version to the point they released an untested product. The majority of players playing the game are experiencing problems with both single-player and multi-player. The range of problems is excessive, Lag, server connection problems (pre and post patch), framerate stutter, Steam crashes, hit detection issues...the list goes on. The released patch was supposed to solve most of these problem but still every time I join a game online, I have to wait at a latency between 700ms and 999ms for a complete minute before it is corrected.

As for the comment that people do not have the right specs to play the game, I run the game at 1920 x1080 as I do with all my games but still experience problems. When frame sync is turned on the menus stutter.

The game has a lot of positive points, there is nothing more satisfying than launching a Tomahawk into your opponent. The single-player and multi-player are both good with multi-player offering a wide range of game types and maps. Wager matches add a very unique set of challenges, and the customization options make you feel more a part of the experience when playing multi-player.

I have nothing against the game itself it is a great game and deserves a better score, but in its current condition any reviewer giving it a score higher that 6, was bribed to do so or is too scared to be honest.

W this game was first released and I ran it Multiplayer for the first time, i was shocked at the CPU lag we where all gettin, it was as if Treyarch forced us to be beta testers. None the less they appologised and released multiple patches allowing for us all to reconsider this game. I got to say the multiplayer vibe/graphics/sound is epic. You can hear everything from the backround trains, feet, bushes, water, to the bullet shells dropping on the floor. With Promod being released early this month im sure it will add the tiny edge this game needs to be a world wide success. great job Treyarch.

Zak, DURBANVALE. 24 March 2011

I got this game on the 9th of November on release day, so I have stocked up 250 hours all in all into the three game modes.

I am quite impressed.

Single Player Campaign
It has a hard-to-follow story, but once you reach the few later missions everything becomes clear, and you start to realise how good the storyline actually is. Everyone thought the Cold War setting was going to be a difficult thing for Treyarch to do, as all the previous games were either based in World War II or a more fictional 'Modern Warfare' era.

The plot does take a few turns from real life, a major being they edited the Cold Wars history to quite an extent that only a small amount of people would know the game is based in the Cold War just by looking at it. Fidel Castro, J.F.K., Vietnam and Cuba all point that out though, along with the numerous weapons that were either made or prototyped around that time.

The game makes you take a more stealthier approach at almost all times, one being where you have to infiltrate a Soviet Relay Station and another where you have to sneak past a base on an island. Infinity Ward's approach to stealth was a bit more exciting. Although sneaking through 60 soldiers with a ghillie suit isn't exactly possible, it was very tense and that was one of the missions that made Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare such a great game.

Back to the point, now. Call of Duty: Black Ops forces you to take a specific route, giving a very little amount of freedom to the player, making it not exactly for free-roaming type of player.

Multiplayer
Everything from COD4:MW and COD:MW2 stuck together into Treyarchs game with a few added bonuses. These include currency, new levelling system (50 levels, 14 prestiges) and Wager Matches.

The maps are quite poorly designed as you are nearly at all times vulnerable to someone behind or next to you, making for a non noob-friendly environment. There are weapons suited to newer players, mainly the AK74u and those assault rifles with speedy fire rates.

Create a Class 2.0 is quite nice as well, polished off with pro perks and the likes. The Playercard is also a very favourited addition to the series, as everything is tracked here, even some information being quite irrelevent. The Combat Record is useful, although quite buggy, as you can have 1547 total assists, while having your personal record (one match) at the same level: 1547 assists.

Contracts are also an reliable method of gaining CP (CodPoints) and XP, and put a taste of freshness into the game.

Zombies
All that fun blow-'is-head-up fun is back with the Zombies mode. 3 new maps, and Ascension with First Strike (25 March 2011) grants players the co-op adrenaline rush they desire. Different types and Zombie Monkeys (Fire Strike) make it more challenging at times and will want to make the Achievement-Hunters struggle.

This game all in all delivers, and hats off to Treyarch on doing their work and producing, even though it was a bit buggy at launch.
