Description

Caught between two rival factions in war-torn Africa, you are sent to take out "The Jackal", a mysterious character who has rekindled the conflict between the warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfil your mission you will have to play the factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralise their superior numbers and firepower with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force.

This is the first main stream "hardcore" game with Africa as its setting. And it's oh, so gorgeous. While this won't stun you, like the very first Far Cry when it came out, graphically, the feeling of Africa is very well captured. I'd say buy this game for that alone.
The shooting mechanics are relatively ok; used weapons break constantly, but you can make enough money to be able to buy new weapons when needed (and have an unlimited supply there after).
The game is annoying in some aspects, but its easily forgiven. However, the ending was a bit of a let down (after all that work one put in).

This game is absolutely amazing! The visuals are stunning and I find myself stopping every now and then to just admire the scenery around me. The atmosphere is tense and although the game seems rather difficult in the beginning, it just prepares you for harsher battles later on. The mercenaries even speak Afrikaans and say stuff like" Wys jou tande, dan skiet ek hulle stukkend!" and "Elkeen van hierdie koeels het jou naam op" and more. Even the grass, twigs and leaves sway gently in the wind, the shadows are accurate and life-like and the graphics is really ultra-realistic. It's fun watching a target through your sniper rifle, watching him take a drag on a smoke a couple of times, and stamping it out with his boot before you take his head off or rip his shoulder apart. I can't believe this game is so cheap now as I paid R699 new. So, if you like crawling through the bushes ambushing mercenaries, with an advanced AI and movement engine, then BUY IT!!!
