The Guitar Hero universe is about to expand, not just with a new band or instrument - but with a whole new style of music. Never mind air guitar, now you can pretend to be a superstar DJ from the comfort of your own home thanks to the new turntable controller bundled with the game.

The gameplay is still similar to Guitar Hero, as notes travel around the on-screen turntable and you have to hold down the three "stream" buttons on the controller at the right time to keep the mix going. For advanced players there's also an effects dial, crossfader and the score boosting "Euphoria" button.

About the Developer: FreeStyleGames
Based in Leamington Spa, this British studio is made up of a number of ex Rare and Codemasters staff. Their first game was break-dancing sim B-Boy and after working on some EyeToy games for Sony they were bought by Activision to localise Guitar Hero content and create the new DJ Hero.

Since at the time of writing this there's no information here on Take2 explaining exactly why this version of DJ Hero is double the price of the regular version, I'll step in with the bit of research I've done.

The DJ Hero Renegade Edition contains:
Additional music cds by Eminem and Jay Z
Adjustable 4 Leg stand for the turntable controller
"Renegade edition" controller that is piano black all over.
Special carry case to pack everything in when you're not playing.

That's pretty much it. A funky stand (which some reviewers claim to be rather flimsy) and a fancy case to pack it all in for an additional R900 (at time of writing). Doesn't seem worthwhile to me but if you have money to burn and you think you might have a problem finding a comfortable surface on which to place the controller, this may be the solution you're looking for.
