We strive at all times to get it to you sooner but here are some indications:
If we say In Stock, we dispatch same day (if ordered before 14:00 on a working day) and depending on where you stay it will be with you the next working day (Main Centres) or the next working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional).
If we say In Stock (You can also collect in cpt), the stock is available from our Cape Town warehouse and you can collect on the same working day if your payment has been authorised and you collect before 5pm.
If we say dispatched between X and Y days then it takes X to Y days to receive from a supplier and it will then be with you within a working day after dispatched (Main Centres) or the working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional Areas).
Imports are a best effort service, we strive to get it to you as soon as possible within the guidelines above but it's not always within our complete control so if something goes wrong we will let you know.
And then there's a Friday, sigh... Try order early on a Friday, we can then try our best to get it to you on the same day (Main centres), otherwise we will have to get it to you during the next week.
If this is all too confusing, call us on 0861 222 989 or send an e-mail to info@takealot.com. One of our friendly employees will get back to you pronto.

Athens 2004 (PS2) is probably one of the best party games out at the moment. The controls are really straight forward for most of the events. In most cases you simply press the X and O buttons to run or build up power, and then the L1 button to perform an action, such as jump or lunge.
There is quite of a number events to compete against each other with. Some of these events can be almost as exhausting as the real thing, like breast stroke or trying to do the weightlifting sections.
Athens 2004 is one of those games which should come with an extra controller as you risk breaking your controller from hyper intense X & O mashing. I don't even want to think how much exercise you will have to do, if you use your dance mat in the part mode.
This is a real fun game. Highly recommended if you have a few friends over.
Every four years the Olympic Games roll onto our televisions sets, and for about 3 weeks we become fascinated by sports events we show no interest in for the other 200+ weeks in between. Discussions around the kettle move from the usual topics to the nuances of timing the kick-finish in the ladies 10 000 meters, or why the Chinese dominate Ping-Pong...err Table Tennis. And in recent Olympiads the cycle of athletic events has become complete by releasing a video game, so that the armchair athletes amongst us can also share, ever so slightly, in the thrill of competing in the Games. Athens 2004 is another such Video Game, released exclusively for the PS2.
As you'd expect from Sony, the design aspects of the game are polished, allowing you to quickly select whether to try Arcade or Competition, or even just a simple practice event or two. However the problem with the game becomes noticeable once you've loaded up the first event - its just a simple button-masher. While there are a few events that do offer some variety in terms of gameplay, anout 80% of the game is simply trying to push X and O faster than either your Human opponent can, or than you did during precious attempts. Even this would be forgivable if there was some reward for succeeding, like unlocking new events, video clips of past champions etc, but all ever you'll get a simple medal ceremony.
There's also no career mode available, nor is there any difference in choosing your nationality, so unfortunately there's no long term single player challenge in the game. However where the game does redeem itself is in multiplay. Seeing which of your buddies is more able to take the pain in the wrist to win an event is a blast. A good feature of the game is the ability to set up your own custom competition across multiple events, or alternately you can choose to compete in the standard decathlon or heptathlon.
In terms of events the sprints offer little or know challenge, while the 400m only becomes difficult as your wrists and fingers begin to suffer from the strain. The field events probably offer the greatest variety in terms of gameplay, but most are a combination of X and O sprinting, followed by the correct timing of a jump. The Gymnastics events are essentially rhythm based games, where pressing the right sequence of buttons determines success. The Shooting and Archery events are the most fun in my opinion, while events such as Swimming and Weightlifting become almost impossible. I've never been so exhausted while using a controller as during the swimming events.
The graphics and sounds are surprisingly ordinary, nothing bad, but nothing spectacular either. A disappointment is the lack of national identities. Other than the competitors wearing the uniform of your chosen country, and some demographic player models, there's nothing to distinguish the competitors. Even the most rudimentary sports games tend to build in some sort of stats model, but this is totally missing in Athens 2004.
In summary Athens is great fun for a group of people sitting around a console. As a single player game it is below average however, which makes it a very difficult game to score. As a multiplayer game I would score it 9 for playability, while that rating would drop to about a 6 for single player. That's simply based on the fact that other than mastering the events for multiplayer action, there's no challenge and hence no longterm playabilty in the single player mode. I would have liked to have seen something along the lines of selecting a national squad based on some sort of stats system. Building up your "players" through practice and other events, before moving on to the Olympic Stage to compete for medals.
A final word of warning your controller will take a solid pounding, while your wrists and fingers will also take a fair bit of stress during Athens 2004. Don't be surprised if a blister or two appear during an intense multiplayer session.
