Four feature-length episodes, with a summer theme, from the popular British detective series starring John Nettles. In 'Judgement Day' (1998), the residents of Midsomer Mallow are eagerly making preparations for the Perfect Village Competition and many are quietly confident that they might win. However, a spanner is thrown into the works when the rogue Peter Drinkwater (Orlando Bloom) turns up with a pitchfork in his chest. Many had reasons to dispose of Drinkwater, but who was it that actually did the job? In 'Destroying Angel' (2001), when hotel manager Gregory Chambers (Philip Bowen) fails to appear at both his boss's funeral and the Punch and Judy show in which he was due to perform, the local villagers know there must be something seriously wrong. Before long, the missing man's severed hand turns up in the local woods, and as the mystery deepens Barnaby (Nettles) and Troy (Daniel Casey) arrive to investigate. The annual Midsomer Regatta, a series of boat races down the Thames, provides the stage for the episode, 'Dead in the Water' (2004). A champion rower from the Midsomer Rowing Club is found dead in the water, and as Barnaby pieces together the clues he begins to suspect the involvement of two local beauties with complex social lives. Finally, in 'Orchis Fatalis' (2005), Chief Inspector Barnaby discovers quite how competitive orchid growers can be, as the theft of a rare orchid leads to a series of bloody murders in the Midsomer villages. Assisted by Detective Sergeant Dan Scott (John Hopkins), Barnaby has to find the missing orchid and unmask the killer at the same time as he is trying to move house.
