Dispatched in 5 to 7 working days

Of course you want to know — When do I get it?

We strive at all times to get it to you sooner but here are some indications:

If we say In Stock, we dispatch same day (if ordered before 14:00 on a working day) and depending on where you stay it will be with you the next working day (Main Centres) or the next working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional).

If we say In Stock (You can also collect in cpt), the stock is available from our Cape Town warehouse and you can collect on the same working day if your payment has been authorised and you collect before 5pm.

If we say dispatched between X and Y days then it takes X to Y days to receive from a supplier and it will then be with you within a working day after dispatched (Main Centres) or the working day after that (Regional Areas). If you are in a remote area it may take an additional working day (a day longer than Regional Areas).

If we say Pre-order it means that your item will be dispatched to you on the day it's released.

We always try our very best to get it to you as soon as possible but cannot guarantee same day delivery.

Imports are a best effort service, we strive to get it to you as soon as possible within the guidelines above but it's not always within our complete control so if something goes wrong we will let you know.

And then there's a Friday, sigh... Try order early on a Friday, we can then try our best to get it to you on the same day (Main centres), otherwise we will have to get it to you during the next week.

If this is all too confusing, call us on 0861 222 989 or send an e-mail to info@takealot.com. One of our friendly employees will get back to you pronto.

Christo, Hartbeespoort. 18 July 2005

REM released their thirteenth studio album, Around the Sun, late last year. And while many expected a very political album (considering the tumultuous US political scene), what they got was an offering in which the political is personal – an album where the band doesn’t come across as angry, but rather disheartened. In fact, many of the songs actually dwell on the aftermath of shattered relationships; the emotions experienced when you realise that love has run its course. Ever since drummer Bill Berry retired from the band, REM have been struggling to get back to the level they reached with 1992’s Automatic for the People. But unlike their last two albums, Reveal and Up, Around the Sun actually comes close to that classic REM sound. It’s a very slow, roundabout CD, and, unfortunately, it’s difficult to find it more than a collection of glum, mid-tempo songs that leave you feeling rather dejected. The absolute highlight on the album is the first single, Leaving New York. On the surface it is a love song (about heartache and break-up), but it’s also successful on a political level, making a statement about the Bush Administration. Other stand-out tracks include I Wanted To Be Wrong, The Ascent of Man, Boy in the Well and The Worst Joke Ever. Many critics have agreed that Around the Sun is memorable for being entirely unremarkable. But, that doesn’t make it a bad recording. This isn’t an album with shiny happy people holding hands and laughing their way through these tracks. Instead, you will find life’s walking wounded, looking for a shoulder to lean on as they search for stability and truth in an uncertain world. A personal and very mature album that fans will enjoy.
