I replaced all my old media players with these Mygica media players and i havnt looked back since. This new ATV 585 version is by far the best version yet. A couple of things to take note of:
1) My unit came with the MyGica KR40 remote (google it) which is a VAST improvement over the remote that came with the Mygica ATV 582, BUT mine did NOT come with a remote battery (It uses 1 cr2032 button battery).
2) My unit was already flashed to the version that has Kodi 14.1 on it, which is AWESOME.
Overall this media player is 100% worth it, you get a powerfull cpu, android, and Kodi(formerly known as xbmc). If you want to play indexed videos over a network, you cant do better than this media player.
Kapeshi, South Africa. 24 May 2015
This device is awesome, It's an Android Box, meaning anything an Android phone or TV can do, this one can do it also. I have Hulu, Netflix (Movies and Series), and Offside streams (Sports channels) on XBMC running like charm so basically I won't need Monochoice anytime soon. All I do is sit in my couch and enjoy my day and everyday is popcorn time.
The remote that comes with it is another thing though. Mine remote just stopped working because the batteries went flat in 5 days. I'm planning on buying the rii wireless remote as it comes with rechargeable batteries.
Michael, South Africa. 14 May 2015
Excellent product. Wifi is strong, it has built in Bluetooth, and LAN is stable too. It easily decodes 1080p on XBMC (preinstalled) over LAN which is impressive for its price. It is extremely tiny, so it can fit almost anywhere. The remote control supplied includes a keyboard on the back which is quite nice. No airmouse capability though on the supplied remote. All in all, it is an excellent product for a very low price.

Great product however the mouse is rubbish
K, South Africa. 22 April 2016
The MyGica ATV585 is awesome, but the mouse is unbearable. I replaced mine with Rii i25 and it transformed the experience from good to a full blown mini pc. Now there's no use for a laptop anymore. I have Hulu+ and Netflix , also connected a HDD to the MyGica and use utorrent for anything I can't stream. Highly recommend

I purchased this device after reading these reviews on takealot.com - some were really good, some were really not so good. As it was relatively to very cheap, I took the chance.
My requirement is wide - I want one device that does movies, my photos and home videos as well as my music. Most media players can't handle that, but this one does so utilising KODI - open source media centre software which is one of the reasons why the device isn't that expensive.
I had no problems with the remote - I find it very responsive. Maybe they fixed that complaint. I watched two movies without any problems, and I could set it up with ease. The music played with ease. after pointing to the network drives, it indexed in the background without problems.
I am certainly amazed by this product - It does everything at such a low price - why pay more?

Brilliant quality and build, firmware allows you to use DSTV Now app that works on this box after trying loads of other similar spec media boxes that didn't work on the Dstv now app
Neil, South Africa. 8 July 2016
Returning this item as its wifi is just way too slow. Sitting next to the TV with my laptop, Netflix works perfectly on my laptop but won't even load the listing pages on the device. Basically nothing that uses the internet works properly. Play Store doesn't load.
The remote is really bad. It's unresponsive - often when typing something you have to retype a letter because you didn't force the key down hard enough. You should be good if you have wireless keyboard/mouse.
Otherwise, it's an android device so if you like android and use android apps then your TV will be like a big tablet.
Kelvin, South Africa. 14 December 2016
The remote has a usb receiver, so you won't actually have 2 open usb ports to use for hard drives. It runs android kitkat (v4.4) which can't be upgraded. Be sure, that whatever google playstore app you want to use, is supported for android 4.4. Most android apps, are written with a touch interface in mind. To that end, I found plex to be the most horrible UI experience because there is no touch interface, only a remote. This isn't a failing on MyGica, only something to be aware of, when deciding if it fits your use case scenario. Youtube (video streaming) and Deezer (music streaming) also don't integrate well with a remote vs a touchscreen controller.
Stay with me, it gets better...
Unintended touch interface apps aside, Kodi is unbelievable, a perfect fit, and truly the best media viewing experience I've ever had. It will play anything you throw at it, including H.265. The wifi is solid enough to play HD, lagless. You can play media via network, local sd card, local usb hard drive, it doesn't care. It's compact, comes with all the extras that are needed. It's awesome. MyGica have done a good job of customising the dashboard and android experience to work reasonably well with a remote. FYI, I did plug a keyboard and mouse in, and even an xbox wired controller. For the more adventurous, I managed to stream a game from my gaming pc, to the tv, over wifi, controlling with an xbox controller (using Moonlight Game Streaming, connecting to Nvidia Game Streaming).
You shouldn't buy this product if you want to youtube or use apps, that have been written with a touch interface in mind. That said, the remote does have mouse pointer mode.
You SHOULD buy this product if you're going to use apps, that work well with a remote control interface.

Does what it says on the tin
Stephan, South Africa. 4 January 2017
This device does all I want it to do, and the remote is functional, once you are used to it.
The only issue is with HDMI for video and AV for sound to a receiver, where it only plays on one side.
Brent, South Africa. 12 December 2016
Met my expectations. Happy viewing so far.
Roland A, South Africa. 6 December 2016
Excellent product, only issue is with remote and dongle to uses the one of the two usb ports.
But other wise it serves all my needs delivering media content to my TV.
Chris, South Africa. 6 December 2016
Rooted device, some apps don't work but there is an easy fix. Crappy remote but nothing a keyboard and mouse can't fix. Just ordered a second box.
Alfons, South Africa. 22 December 2016
Works for me. Remote not the best option to be used for mouse and keyuboard, but it work ok. Don't work well with Showmax though. Can't select episodes, or vew all available series. Can't scroll right or left. Overall it is still value for money.
Reg, South Africa. 4 January 2017
Great product. Everything works well. Installing Showmax a problem as app says device rooted.
Evangelos, South Africa. 5 December 2016
Nice device. Small form factor but only has 2 USB ports and one is used for the remote. The remote mouse is no good. There is no scroll function so navigating pages is impossible. Have to buy an additional air most to make it useable.
Duncan, South Africa. 19 December 2016
beautiful product with quick and easy setup. only problem is it battles to play files larger than 1gb. they stutter. so it's great for series and some movies/documentaries but not all
wayne, South Africa. 20 June 2016
I wanted a media player that included a remote with a mouse. This remote is rubbish. You are better off installing the remote app on your phone.
Secondly this unit did not want to read any of my external storage devices, not USB 2 or 3. I was supposed to be able to play media directly from my PC, again - I wasn't able to do that.
Lastly this unit freezes whenever it feels like it, when you open apps, in the middle of a youtube video, it even froze when I gave it a funny look. You can't restart it with the remote. I had to lift my lazy behind off the couch to pull the cable out every time.
The one good thing about this media player is that it comes installed with Kodi, not that it did much good as I couldn't test how well it worked (see crashing issues above).
I wish I could give it a negative rating.
Azhar, South Africa. 25 July 2016
Interface terrible. When using netflix, episode list for series is cut-off and dificulty in selecting different seasons for series. Would not recommend this
Angie, South Africa. 6 December 2016
Not too bad but get a wireless mouse
Nicholas, South Africa. 10 June 2016
This is my first android device to date, I am still getting my head around it but here are my findings so far.
* Very small device, boot speed is almost instant once setup!
* Kodi media player application is pre-installed (taken over from XBMC) +many add-on's available for it.
* Netflix is also pre-installed and works well, you just need to update the Google Play Service before using it.
* Many free steaming application available on the play store including ones that allow you to watch BBC and ITV channels from the UK.
* Plays full 1080p HD with no issues and very fast load times, this even when jumping from one large video file to another - Many other small media devices like this can only play 720p
* You can tinker with the video and audio settings while the video is playing as well as the sound sync'ing forward and backwards
* Adobe Flash player is not supported on this device (even within Chrome, Dolphin or a force install)
* Mouse toggle joystick would have been great but instead you have to use the directional arrows which is a pain!
* Navigation on large pages is frustrating and you end up toggling between mouse and arrow button modes and or page up and page down buttons on the flip side of the remote.
* Only 2 USB ports and one is already used up by the dongle you need to use the remote control.
* Aerial could have been built into the device
* Super sport application doesn't work from application or browsers due to the need for adobe flash player which cannot be installed (this was the main reason I bought the device)
* Remote feels cheaply made and not sure how long it will last
Keeping it in the end because of Kodi (amazing program!) and netflix
Need to still try a wifi keyboard and mouse if that is even supported not sure.

It works with some effort though, but unfortunately there are a few things that dont work like it should.
In the Youtube app, you cannot scroll down, you need a mouse or different remote, this happens in a few apps actually.
You cannot close apps fully like you can on a android phone, maybe I am missing something here or just cant figure out how to do it.
I have had a freeze on me 2 times already in a 7 day period.
But all in all, I can at least stream movies and music on my TV in our bedroom now.
Our TV room TV is a LG smart TV, the build in wifi and smart functions work flawlessly and maybe I am setting the benchmark to high for the Mygica device on my non smart TV in our bedroom.
Great concept, but it needs some work, hopefully in the future they will have an update that fixes a few bugs.
Jojo, South Africa. 27 October 2016
Very good device to watch youtube or movies, not for downloading loads of APPS
Owen, South Africa. 4 January 2017
A really brilliant "plug 'n play" little box!! - It took literally 10 minutes to set up, connected easily to my home WiFi and has proved to be robust and stable. Also its Android OS makes adding media apps from the Google Play Store really simple. Apps like Netflix and Kodi come pre-installed. It also immediately configured my 2TB external plugin drive and streams all media seamlessly over the WiFi. (I would have given it 5 stars but it has a very minor problem with older XVid files. All the newer file wrappers play flawlessly.)
Best of all it has a 3-in-one remote. (Normal style remote, mouse mode and a full QWERTY keyboard on the back) perfect for any smart TV application.
If you're looking to upgrade your home viewing capability (and even dump your DSTV decoder) then this box has my "thumbs up."
Gean, South Africa. 19 October 2016
This product is fantastic
Neil, South Africa. 4 November 2016
Awesome product, really happy with my purchase.
Nazmy, South Africa. 10 January 2017
Not too bad of a device when you do not have a smart tv.
Martin, South Africa. 17 August 2016
Very quick and very impressive little device. Works better than my WDTV media player.
Brian, South Africa. 6 December 2016
Now DSTV gone, save 1000.00 per month this is great
Whats not said, South Africa. 10 December 2016
This device have AV, so u can change ur box tv into a smart tv. Remote is debatable, get yourself a wirrless keyboard and mice. Hope for an upgrade to android 5 or 6.
Toufique, South Africa. 11 July 2016
Great little thing. I've had no issues with it so far. Comes pre installed with kodi 17, which is basically all you need for media. But do yourself a favour and get a wireless mouse to navigate with, the remote isn't great.
Cavan, South Africa. 24 December 2016
Great product for the use required, Netflix for non smart tv.
Sheldon, South Africa. 19 August 2016
Great box for media for TV etc. The remote is absolute junk. It doesn't work at all. Buy yourself a real remote.
Nick, South Africa. 6 January 2017
Does what it should, I did buy a mouse to go with it.
Isabel, South Africa. 10 January 2017
Great product and a good price. Easy to operate with cool features. the items is slim and sleek. All and all a very good buy.
Matthew, South Africa. 3 December 2016
So far, so good. Really great device for Netflix and streaming. The remote is not great but there are apps to download to use your phone/tablet as a remote. Great buy.
Davin, South Africa. 28 June 2016
Have had this Android TV box for a good 3 months now and I'm very satisfied. Its extremely better than the generic mx android tv boxes tjat are sold at almost the same price. I havent had any problems with it yet. The remote is unfortunately a pain, but there are ways around the issue. I find that its fast and it does exactly what it says it can in the description. Having a bit of connection problems with kodi but other than that no problems.
Anthony, South Africa. 8 September 2016
Small, convenient and works well.
Setting KODI up was a little tricky
Blake, South Africa. 26 October 2016
Great little device. Very easy to setup
Herman, South Africa. 16 January 2017
DON'T BUY THIS DEVICE IF YOU WANT TO PLAY SHOWMAX PROGRAMS!
Abhijit, South Africa. 12 December 2016
The remote provided is not that of good quality for browsing...
specific for scrolling down.
If we use another keyboard and mouse which wireless , you are sorted.
Deon, South Africa. 4 January 2017
Cannot even get to set up,as the remote is unresponsive. I've downloaded the app to use my phone as a controller, but it cannot sync with the device.
I've rebooted, stood on my head and even sang KUMBAJAH to the device, with no avail.
Returning this one to see if its not just a faulty unit.
Rami, South Africa. 9 June 2016
It hangs almost every 10 mins
Erich Kieck, South Africa. 5 November 2016
I have had it for a week now. I would give it 5 stars if not for two issues:
1. Most apps are written for touch screens so very difficult to operate with the remote. I bought a wireless mouse & usb expansion port. Works like a dream.
2. Can't upgrade to latest Android. Not a big deal though. All apps work.
Overall, I am enjoying the device. Netflix, Showmax & Youtube works 100%. Plays all my movies from the external HDD as well. Even DSTV & Supersport apps works. Great device.
Dr Peter, South Africa. 20 October 2016
I have only had MyGica for almost a week now, and although I have not found it easy to set up, I do think that it has great potential. I had to swop the dreadful small and flimsy remote that came with the unit, for the correct one that is far more robust. It appeared that it had not been done before collection. A great improvement. I also had to swop the actual unit due a day ago due to a sudden wifi problem where it would not recognize my wifi. All done without any problems from the importers who were most accommodating. Now time to enjoy the unit which I do think is wonderful and meets my needs of watching BBC and iTV (UK).
