How to make a "Peachy Keen": Take two girls, three dudes, add in two guitars, a keyboard, a double bass and a set of drums, mix until texture is nonpretentious and pleasant. Then add good vibes, a lot of energy, plenty of Sailor Jerry Rum, some healthy respect for Mr. Johnny Cash and beat lightly for three minutes. Cook at 30 degrees Celsius under an African sun and what you will get is something rather tasty for the ears.
Peachy Keen is Cape Town's answer to "What will save us from all this terrible Indie music and all these effing Bellville bands taking over?"
In closing, Peachy Keen will make you want to dance, even if you can't walk.
In Peachy Keen’s short playing history they have played with established South African bands such as Civil Twilight, Hog Hoggidy Hog, Taxi Violence and Cassette and have played all around the country in South Africa’s top music venues. Peachy keen recently performed a massively crowd pleasing set at 2011’s “Rocking The Daisies” the festival boasted a mammoth line up of South Africa’s biggest and most exciting musical acts as well as highly acclaimed international act “Band of Skulls”.
Peachy Keen has headlined The Flamjangled Tea Party Festival 2011, completed successful Tours to Johannesburg and Durban and played on the main stage on the opening night of the oldest music festival in the country: Splashy fen. Peachy Keen was also booked to play the inaugural Cape Town Bike festival at the Cape Town Stadium in December 2011 alongside South Africa’s most prestigious bands and South Africa’s biggest rock export “Seether”.
