The complete first series of the BBC drama following the lives of a gangland family living in Birmingham in 1919. Named after their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, the notorious 'Peaky Blinders' gang is one of the city's most feared, with interests in illegal betting, protection and the black market. Former war hero and brains behind the operation, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), however, is eager to safeguard his family's success by making the business legitimate.
But when he's offered a consignment of stolen arms, Tommy's desire to increase the family's influence in the city brings him into direct conflict with Chief Inspector Campbell (Sam Neill), a brutally tough, Belfast policeman who's been charged with recovering the guns at any cost.

Absolute work of art. Nothing will come close to this brilliant production in years to come (maybe Series 2 which is just as brilliant as this first one). I was hooked from the beginning. The cinematography, music, acting, everything is top class.

This is a top BBC series about post WWI crime syndicates in Britain, with an excellent recreation of the ambiance of the period. It is artfully done, and equals the quality of other great crime dramas, such as the "Godfather" trilogy and "Once upon a Time in America". One of those productions that one can periodically watch again.
