This is not a bad pair of headphones, if you consider the price. Unfortunately they are not for me. My friend recommended these since he's very happy with them, but to me, these cans just won't cut it. I'm a very heavy user, I use headphones probably about 70% of the time I spend in front of my computer. The batteries just don't last and the headphones have to be charged constantly.
When it comes to comfort, you really can't go wrong here. The Philips brand has always made very comfortable headphones, and these are no exception. They are extremely light and fits very nicely over my watermelon sized head. Weight is not everything and balance is actually very important, and these do tend to slide a bit forward, so I had to adjust them from time to time. The downside is that it doesn't seem to breathe at all, and my ears got extremely hot using them. I have another set of wireless gaming headphones, which feels heavier but is actually more comfortable due to the cups being more breathable.
When it comes to sound, the headphones are decent. It doesn't have too much bass, although there is enough to go around. Sound is crisp and clear when you have proper signal. It unfortunately can't go too loud, since sound can get very distorted. I also experienced a lot of hissing and pops from the wireless transmitter, which was very annoying. The worst was the cut outs when the batteries starts running dry. I have a lot of electronic devices on my desk, so that would have an impact on the quality of signal. Its a bit unacceptable for me since I was never more than 4ft away from the transmitter.
Overall, I don't think its bad, if you're not too heavy a user and don't have too many devices around you, then they might work for you. Me? I'm going to a wired headset, exchanging these for a pair of Turtle Beach gaming headphones, a brand I trust.

Happy with the product. Lightweight and comfortable.
Sound is a bit tinny, but I had no volume issues as reported in other reviews.
Love the FM transmitter because you can move around. Not limited to line of site.
I also have a pair of Philips infrared wireless headphones SHC2000/10 that definitely has better balanced sound, but restricted by line of site. If mobility is no issue, then the infrared headphones would be the better buy.

Unbeatable value. Excellent sound quality and reception. Nothing in this price range can compete with this model from Philips. As always - 5 star service from Takealot!
Heimar, South Africa. 19 March 2015
It works fine. Sound quality is decent. The price is good.
I use it on my TV.

Product is easy to set up and has good sound quality. Battery life is about 4-5 days when listening about 2 hours a night. Took a while to get the perfect TV/DStv/Headphones volume levels, but once set up all is well. When TV/Dstv levels are too low and headphones volume level too high, the unit distorts. My recommendation is TV level at 50%, headphone level at 50%, then use Dstv remote to make everything louder. I would have loved this unit to come with a two headphone option.

The set works well. Not as good as the AKG912(Sadly no longer in production). Has a fairly good range (distance) even through reinforced concrete walls.
I would make the lead that connects to the source longer and modify it to connect to RCA and/or USB. The earmuffs could also be a bit larger!

Replaceable batteries, powered transmitter, long battery life between charges, clear sound. I love it.
Jason, South Africa. 6 May 2016
Not bad sound, especially for the price. They do feel a bit flimsy, but I guess that's because they tried to keep the weight down. Time will tell!
Liren, South Africa. 22 March 2016
- Replaceable Batteries
- Good interference mitigation
- Powered transmitter
- Very comfortable and light
- Decent overall sound quality
- Use of NiCad batteries (needs an initial 10 hour charge)
- Bass response isn't great
Craig, South Africa. 28 January 2016
i do not like it poor quality all around

The SHC5100 may be a nice looking headset,
but functionally it has a serious problem with the volume,
the volume is way too low.
Unless your output device has a very high volume output it's pathetic.
So basically these headphones can only be used on max volume on a good Hi-Fi,
on any other device like a mobile phone or ipod it's useless, don't even bother.
John, South Africa. 16 October 2015
Bad interference and the battery last a couple of hours and then need to replace, I do not like it.
david, South Africa. 17 August 2015
It does what it says in the description some people are just full of nonsense (loving it)
Victor, South Africa. 24 November 2016
Product does what it says, comfortable fit and convenient with the rechargeable batteries.
Good value for money at the discounted price.
I had no issue with volume, more than loud enough and I connected it to the audio out on DSTV decoder. (had to supply my own adaptor for that)
I tried the Infra red version first which picked up interference from the TV, this set is nice and clear.
Hendrik, South Africa. 24 October 2016
Works like a charm.
It is annoying that you have to use the specific batteries to benefit from in-headphone charging, but otherwise I don't have complaints.
Danie, South Africa. 17 February 2015
For this price, it does all you want it to do. Clear sound, good range, very comfortable and so easy to install and use. If budget is tight and you need/want wireless headphones, I would recommend this product!
Hewan, South Africa. 10 March 2015
Good value for money I bought these for my dad to watch tv with. They have a good range and decent sound.
Bruce, South Africa. 15 January 2017
Very useful but not capable of any other wireless connectivity except to base station or direct connection.
Nathi, South Africa. 18 January 2017
Sleek finish, very light headphones. Lack of Bass is not as bad as people say. Overall sound is good, however the static can be annoying when you have the volume too looud or during interferences. Perfect home entertainment headphones, good range too.
Daniel, South Africa. 25 April 2016
Not bad for the price. Disappointed with the range. Sound quality is OK.
rita, South Africa. 28 December 2016
I expected much better quality sound from a Philips product. There is always a background buzzing noise
Jaco, South Africa. 23 October 2015
Excellent product, and I did not even had to pay in access of R1500!!!!
mallinee, South Africa. 15 October 2015
only problem being the static that is there continuosly
Yolandie, South Africa. 13 December 2016
Poor sound quality!
Estienne, South Africa. 26 April 2016
I love this product! I can highly recommend it! So easy to use and the sound is fantastic!
Louis, South Africa. 14 April 2016
Very good sound reproduction. Pity that the ear muffs are a bit on the small side.
Annette, South Africa. 18 November 2016
Awesome 3d sound. Really value for money.
Zac, South Africa. 4 January 2017
Omer , South Africa. 24 November 2016
Excellent product for the price , would have given 5🌟 Is the battery life was better
Barry, South Africa. 7 March 2016
5 stars because the product is good value and service from Takealot is excellent. At my age I don't have hifi ears, but these headphones provide good clarity and (because they use radio transmission)are not restricted to line of sight like products using infrared, i.e. you can wander into another room and still hear what's on the TV or computer. Unlike, say, BlueTooth you can easily use several headsets from one transmitter. Or, if you use different transmitters on (for example) two PCs, then by selecting different channels (1 or 2)the outputs from the two PCs do not interfere with each other.
Nadia, South Africa. 19 May 2016
I bought this for my granddad and he is very happy with the product. Take note that some of the older TV's do not have a headphone output, so in his case I had to connect his hi-fi to the TV. This makes it a bit more complicated for him because he needs more then one remote to operate the sound.
Roshan, South Africa. 1 November 2016
Excellent quality!! Value for money
Antonio Ferreira, South Africa. 22 November 2016
Great headphones! Work from far distances with no interruptions. Theyre a little loose but otherwise excellent and very comfortable!
Daniel, South Africa. 1 February 2017
For the price I paid (32% discount) they were alright. I would definitely have been disappointed if I had paid full price. It does its job but find that there is considerable background noise when listening to soft audio and when I turn my head a bit I get static noise at certain angles. I also find that my ears get a bit hot when listening for longer periods (> 45 min).
