OK, so there are probably better budget Windows-tablets out there...the storage is really too small at 16GB, Windows prefers more RAM, the screen is not terribly bright and the battery life is not that great (4-5 hours of use, I'd estimate). But for the price, you do get a full year subscription to Office 365 (which typically goes for almost R1000 via the Microsoft portal these days, score!), so the purchase is well worth it just for that! Also, if you are willing to put up with some restrictions, you get a nice-looking device with brushed-metal back, decent resolution (with a screen-guard already fitted, nice!) and zippy Windows 8.1 performance (all those gestures the IT-people despised work really well!). Bundled keyboard-cover also impersonates the smell of real leather genuinely well (maybe it is real leather, who knows?), and is decent-looking enough in a Nineties Filofax-kinda-way (keyboard is a bit rubbish, but will do in a pinch for a quick e-mail reply). Probably best to not upgrade to Windows 10, looking at the RAM and storage space, but Windows 8.1 still has some spunk left in it, and actually works great on a device this size. Note also that memory can be expanded with micro-SD cards, and it takes a micro-SIM for 3G connections, which connected quickly and strongly during my test). So, considering the cost of the free Office subscription, I can recommend this as a guilty-pleasure purchase that will not break the bank while proving useful as a portable Windows-device that can be passed on to the kiddies when the time comes...
