The king of the fictitious Kavuki tribe is ageing and does not have a male heir to take over his throne. Enter a white sangoma, Mr. Bones (Leon Schuster) who has been living with the tribe since childhood and who has learnt the art of divining the future by reading the bones.
One day, Mr. Bones reads in the bones that his beloved King Tsonga (Fats Bookholane) has a long lost son somewhere in the City Of The Sun (Sun City). The King orders Mr Bones bring his lost son to him. When Mr. Bones arrives at the City Of The Sun, the Million Dollar Golf Challenge is in progress and he thinks that one of the players, an American called Vince Lee (David Ramsey), might be the Kings son. He then goes about trying to reunite the King with his son, and the result is a series of hilarious encounters with Vince lee and the many people who are determined to have him play in the tournament.
Complications arise when a fugitive (Leon Schuster), who's masquerading as a woman, falls in love with his pretty boss (Mary-Anne Barlow).
Schuks Tshabalala's Survival Guide To South Africa
When it comes to Leon Schuster, I've always preferred his "candid camera" style movies, where he pulls outrageous pranks on unwitting members of the public. And this new one is no exception. It was released theatrically to coincide with the World Cup, and the pranks all hinge around a threadbare plot in which Schuster and his sidekick Shorty guide a group of tourists around the scenic city of Cape Town. This part of the movie is understandably weak and unnecessary, but when he shows them the pranks, that's when the movie fires on all cylinders.
There are a few pranks which aren't very successful, but the majority of them are utterly hilarious and will have you falling off your seat, or at the very least laughing hysterically. And the scenes are all shot in Cape Town, at landmarks as well-known as Kalk Bay Harbour; Sea Point beachfront; and even the public Gardens.
Comedy compilation DVD from South Africa starring Leon Schuster, South Africa's Mr Candid Camera' at his best!!. In this collection, he teams up with Desmond Dube to give us plenty to laugh at, including the famous X-Ray Machine gag, the Out-of-Control Wheelchair gag, the Rainbow Yoghurt gag + many more.
