Surprisingly excellent wireless headphones. The bass, treble, and general clarity are top notch.

Okay. That's how I'd sum them up.
I like Sennheiser for the "Flat" sound - meaning no overblown treble and bass - and these fill out those check boxes and then some. The sound fantastic... when they work.
I have two major issues with these.
Firstly is the fit. Mayhap head on over to Takealot's Fashion or Sport section and invest in a pretty headband along with these. It's really hard to get your jam on when these bad boys just want to slide off your head, plunging to the unforgiving ground. I won't say that I have a small head, pretty average by my guessing, but in a relaxed state these headphones have a 150mm gap between the driver earpads and then they also expand when placed over your head. If you sit still, upright and not moving to much it's fine. Just don't expect to be doing house chores; drawing or, in fact, anything that requires you looking down for too long.
Secondly. On quieter moments in music; films and lower volumes there's a static sound with an occasional high pitched whine. From time to time the high pitched whining sound pops up during normal listening too; it's faint but noticeable. You can, of course, fiddle with the Channels on the Receiver and Headset. That does not help that much, seeing as there's only three Channels on the Receiver with three matching frequencies on the headset.
I'm not even that far from the Reciever - 1 - 2m at most. With that said the physical range you can move away from the receiver is quite far. I've moved about 20-odd meters away with consistent quality. Haven't tried venturing further than that.
I won't say that I'm particularly disappointed with them. They work and they work just okay - but maybe that's just the point, the fact that it's just so okay. Mayhap I needed to lower my expectations just a tad. Then again lowering your expectations coming from a pair of Sennheisers that cost half of these (HD201 - amazing pair of cheapies) with whom you had a glorious seven year (!) run would be asking just too much, in my opinion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Doesn't work on all TV's. You may have to buy additional adapters for R500.

Works perfectly. Quick to setup. Zero interference even though it is placed right next to my house WiFi access point.

Just an update from my previous review.
I managed to found out that, it will only auto-shutoff if no audio is given to the headset. When there is audio, it's goes back on.
Now it's 5 stars, perfect headphones for people who want wireless feature with great sound quality.
Well done Sennheiser!!!!

I have had this for only a week so my review is not on durability.
I mainly use these headphones for console gaming and would highly recommend them for that purpose. They are comfortable, are easy to setup and have volume controls on the headphones making adjustment easy. The headphones seem to louder than other headphones, I assume it has some for of amplification in it.
The sound is clear once the headphones have been tuned in and I have not had any issue with noise apart from when the source device is disconnected, in wich case you would not use the headphones so it is not an issue.
The range is impressive, I have walked 10m away from the base station with no issues.
The charging station is very convenient and acts as an storage facility.
The build quality is top notch as can be expected from Senheiser.
I would recommend these headphones for stationary devices only, such as televisions and desktop PC's. I do not think it will be useful for mobile devices such as Laptops and mobile phones.

Bought this a few weeks ago. So far it is amazing. The sound is great and the setting up was also very easy.

One of the best I ever used. User friendly and works like a dream.

1. Headset too wide. It tends to fall off if you bend your head forward.
2. It is extremely difficult to tune as the tuning tab/roller is extremely sensitive and can easily be accidently moved, thus leading to having to re-tune.
3. This is a pity because the actual quality of sound is good.
