- Trudeau - "Y" Shaped Peeler

This is better than my old u-shaped Austware peeler. It has a more comfortable grip and you can hold it more tightly to peel hard items like a butternut. The blade is machined very precisely and is razor sharp. The blade is also quite wide. The blade is fitted into the plastic handle in a way that seems very sturdy while still allowing a free swivel action so that the blade can conform to the contours of whatever is being peeled: where the blade joins the plastic handle are little metal fittings embedded in the handle. So the "swivel-join" is not metal in plastic, but metal in metal, which I think would be more durable. I highly recommend this well-designed and useful tool.

Sharp, comfortable and very effective peeler. Has good grip and requires little effort to use.

When this first arrived I thought it was terrible. It was too big and took a bit of getting used to. As my old peeler was kaput, I had no choice but to persist with this one and I'm glad I did. I still think it is too big and I often find myself holding it on the 'Y' part because it feels dangerous holding it by the handle. If the entire handle part was smaller this would be the best peeler I have ever used. I don't have especially small hands for a woman, so I would imagine a woman with dainty hands would struggle a bit with this, but it is super-sharp and peels extremely well. The angle on the blade is perfect.
