Solid build, practically no distortion, small and compact.

Product works as described and is solid. Watch youtube reviews to confirm that it is what you need.

I have the 50mm STM, and this is a good match because sometimes, especially in a room I wouldn't have enough space to move back with the 50mm STM.
It also opens up options with landscape pics.
It also seems to focus faster than the 50mm STM and can get group shots that I couldn't get with the 50mm. If I was a brand new photographer, the 24mm STM and 50mm STM would be the first two lenses I would get again.
The kit lens that came with the camera, I haven't put back on since owning these two.

This is a very sharp lens at a very good price! Good build quality also!

Probably the best value lens I'll ever own for an APS-C Canon camera (600d/700d/70/80d/7d/100d).
Absolutely perfect on my Canon 70D with dual-pixel AF and lens' silent STM motor the for video.
Very reliable (and light!) when shooting on my Glidecam for sharp in-focus video shots.
Bokeh/depth-of-field isn't super breathtaking, but for normal shots of people, there's an acceptable amount of background separation to look 'pro'.
I've been lucky enough to also shoot with the much more expensive Canon 16-35 f2.8 L lens and I'd say that this lens is good enough in terms of a cheaper alternative for video and some group photo work.
The only real downfall here are the looks, it's a pancake-lens - portable and awesome but not very 'pro' looking if that's something you care about. - on the other hand it makes your rig very light!
As a side note, I've used this lens for various weddings to get good wide establishing as well people video shots. Photo-wise its very fun as a general purpose lens for around 35mm lens equivalent shots on full-frame (like the 5d).

Great build quality, fast auto focus, very light. This lens is one of the best value for money primes for APSC crop sensor Canon cameras. Pictures are sharp, there is minimal to no chromatic aberration and hardly any vignetting. Its also great for video. I used this for landscape photography and as an everyday shooter!!

Great little lens. Vignetting at 2.8 is very strong though.

This lens comes highly recommended for any crop frame Canon DSLR owner ~ smallest Canon lens there is and the STM motor makes it speedy and great for video too
