Crysis 2 is a great example of how games are becoming more than just a game: it's a gaming experience. Every situation that the game throws at you allows you to tackle it in different ways. There isn't always one route to the end of the road, or one route to the top of the building and so on... The scenary and AI allows for the gamer to create his/her own experience and make it truly individual. Coupled with this is the games film-like quality. There are no breaks or gaps when the gameplay switches to cinematics. It keeps the 'first person' view throughout, making what you're watching that much more engaging as you're still watching it through your character's eyes.
This game has everything that a guy could want from a game: a bad*ss soldier in a bad*ss suit fighting bad*ss soldiers and aliens in a visually stunning setting.
The downfall of Crysis 2 is its gameplay time. I read online before buying it that EA boasted 60 hours of gameplay. I however usually play games slowly and finished this one within 20 hours. Even though 20 hours of gameplay is decent in comparision to some games recently (thinking of Black ops), it still was dissapointing when I finished, having thought I was only a thrid of the way through. It caught me by suprise.
This game is visually the most incredible I have ever played. You really have to take the time and soak in all the detail the coders have given you to gaze at. Some of my friends have said that even watching the game is entertaining enough as it looks like a movie. Epic landscapes, crisp graphics, challenging terrain, and your nano suit make this game one of the more engaging experiences you will have with a first person shooter this year.
