I have to say, that I enjoyed this Tv Series/Miniseries very much! I've seen the first season of Rome and I have to say that the story line of Rome and Empire are not the same, here and there are similar facts, but most of the time it's not the same.

Besides that fact, it was really enjoyable and interesting to see. The story mostly goes about the birth of the Gladiator and slaves times and where Marc Antony betrays Caesar like I've heard that was how the story really goes, and was not showed in the TV series Rome. Caesar was still killed by the Republic members like he was killed in the TV series Rome. Before Caesar died he told the gladiator Tyrannus that Octavius will be the next Caesar, as it was claimed in his will. Marc Antony and the Republic members were not happy, and when they found out there was a will Caesar have written, they threw Caesar¡¦s sister Atia in prison and sent out assassins to kill the next Caesar Octavius. Tyrannus swore to Caesar before he died that he would protect Octavius. He did, but Octavius turned his back on him and trusted Marc Antony, who later on betrayed him by putting poison snakes in his bed after tricked Octavius in writing a will that if anything happens to him Marc will be the next Caesar. Marc thought that Octavius have died of the poison but a soldier of the 2nd legion has taken him. After Marc discovered that Octavius was still alive he has sent out his assassins to kill Octavius. They were unsuccessful and Octavius found the 3rd legion who was outcasts. In the mean time Marc have caught Tyrannus and made him a soldier in one of his legions. In the last battle (Octavius was gravely out numbered) Tyrannus and the legion he was part of teamed up with Octavius and the battle was won. Octavius took his place as Rome's next Caesar.

I kinda liked this version of the legend and I love Gladiators, and Tyrannus reminded me a lot of Maximus of Gladiator.

New face (to me) Jonathan Cake did a great job with his role of Tyrannus.

I would give this Miniseries a 8 out of 10.
