Very poor picture and sound quality.

Do not buy this unless you really want it for sentimental reasons like i did.
The English subtitles are part of the film and cannot be switched off.
There is no 5.1 sound. But the sound is better than the picture. It says both 1.33.1 and full frame 4:3 on the back so figure that out.
I swear this film has been lying open on the floor in the archives in the dust and moisture.
The picture quality of this 1987 film is gobsmakingly poor. It was never this bad when I saw it at the drive-in.
You can see it has gone from 16mm film, with the film jumping at the gate, to tape, with slow lines scrolling down the screen, before it was put on DvD. It is also 110 mins long and squeezed onto a single layer 4.7 gig disc which will do nothing for quality.
Yet it bears the SA coat of arms and Mnet emblem.
Great classic film nevertheless.
Whatever you do, do not watch this with your dvd player set to "Interlaced" on a 100hz TV. I suspect has something to do with the frames per second from the 16mm film, cause it looks twice as horrible. Best results are on a 50hz CRT tv.

Although the video is grainy and the sound is scratchy. It is still a very good buy. I really enjoyed watching this movie again. I think the mediocre quality made it look authentic.

Terrible! The picture quality is pathetic. When the characters move the image is pixelated and there are lines on the screen intermittently. It's the kind of quality you expect when buying a DVD from a traffic light vendor or downloading content from a dodgy website.
