Absolutely brilliant street racer. Blends arcade action with just enough realism to have you cursing like a sailor every time you crash badly.
Similar to the Need for Speed titles: Buy an old car, mod it, race it, win money, do more mods, sell it, buy something better and so on until you're racing things like Lamborghinis.
The racing here is incredibly tough, even easy difficulty races will prove a challenge to most. For best results, connect your Xbox via HDMI to the biggest screen you can find, and make sure the screen has the highest possible refresh rate you can get your paws on.
The highlight for me of this game is the incredibly detailed customization options. Available mods for every car include scissor doors, bodykits, headlights, taillights, exhausts, sports seats, boost gauge, steering wheels, interior and exterior neons, tints, vinyls, decals, an intercooler, various spoilers, and every possible wheel and brake combination you can imagine. The performance upgrades have received less attention. Each vehicle can receive three tiers of performance upgrades that are unlocked one at a time by progressing through the career mode.
The storyline isn't as engrossing (relatively speaking - which racing title is, anyway?) as the NFS titles, but if all you want to do is race, then this is the right game.
Runs perfectly on my Xbox 360 120gig console. 4 stars, because nothing is perfect and because some races are gratuitiously difficult.
