Fact: This is not going to spell the return of the ninja genre, whether it was the intention or not. It's been so long since films like 'Revenge of the Ninja' and 'Pray for Death' sat proudly on video shelves collecting dust but I still have fond memories of them. This is an insult to the genre...fact! Another fact is that maybe it is time brother and sister Wachowski breaks this dreadful collaboration they have with James McTeigue, seriously, it makes V for Vendetta look like a masterpiece. Also, wtf Joel Silver? Did you even see the final product? Story, what story? There is none but fine lets move on because I want to see ninjas go at each other and besides, these movies have never had story as a strong point. Ninjas with all sorts of weapons kicking serious ass, check. Lots of bloody violence, check. Sho Kosugi awesomeness, check. What’s the issue then you ask…well, how does very quick cuts with some added blurriness during fights that are mostly at night-time sound too you? Oh and the only possible way to figure out what was going on is to listen to the sound of the weapons (which in my opinion is the films strongest point, sound) and some glimpses. Not all the fights but mostly enough to start working on your nerves fairly soon. How about the fakest cgi blood effects that’s not even laughable but more embarrassing imo, especially considering Silver and Wachowski’s produced this. In some sections the weapons and body movements just don’t coincide, ridiculous I say. Rain looks to be a great athlete but I’m confident he is not a very good martial artist, but, maybe I’m wrong and maybe the movie isn’t that bad after all. There seem to be plenty of viewers that enjoyed it or perhaps we just have plenty of viewers who enjoy watching sh*t. Uh-uh, this ninja digital fakery stuff did not impress me.

P.S: You just have to love those marines show up with their tanks and bazookas in Japan at one of the “key” sequences to shoot the sh*t out of everything.
