(02.12.2005) We have waited too long for a romance singer like Patrizio Buanne. With that fatal smile he can only win female fans in the thousands, no millions for many a year to come. Every song he sings is inspiring and touches to the core of one's heart. The songs he has chosen for this first album is well-chosen, timeless and uplifting to the spirit. I wait in anticipation for his next album and for a visit to South Africa. Viva la dolce vita! Ti voglio bene, Patrizio.
(26.09.2006) The short review above, I wrote on 2 December 2005. Now, almost a year later, I find I have not tired of Patrizio's debut album. The much-anticipated second album I now also have in my hand: FOREVER BEGINS TONIGHT which is as good as, if not better than L'ITALIANO. I was also waiting anxiously for a concert in South Africa and as I write this piece Patrizio is here busy preparing for his concert at CARNIVAL CITY on 28 and 29 September 2006.
But to get back to the debut album, (CD and DVD) - THE ITALIAN, my favorite tracks remain "'Na sera' e Maggio" (An evening in May) and the theme song: "Parla Più Piano" from the movie: THE GODFATHER (IL PADRINO).
"Credi in te", (Believe in yourself) written by Patrizio is exceptional and inspirational and carries a tune all it's own. It augurs great things to come from Patrizio and I cannot say enough how I look forward to more original work from Patrizio for who knows, in fifty years from now, a new artist will be reviving his original works, just like he is now reviving the standards of the 50's and 60's.
The magic of songs like "A man without love", "Il Mondo", "On an evening in Roma", and "That's Amore" will move the mature set with its nostalgia and the younger set will discover the beauty of great love songs for the first time. All in all Patrizio's rich baritone won't let you forget how great the songs of yesteryear were and have become again, thanks to him. His songs will make you linger in a department store if the store's marketing division is smart enough to play PATRIZIO BUANNE on air.
Patrizio is here to stay. Ask any female between 7 and 70.

This concert was not filmed in Italy as mentioned by another reviewer - it was filmed at THE ARENA in CROATIA, hence he speaks mostly English to the audience. It sounds like he has a professionally-produced backing track for this show, despite the live musicians on stage who are added to the backing tracks. There is no sign of keyboards and the drummer which can be heard throughout. There are a group of about 12 young female backing singers on stage who just stand and sway and barely make a sound, in some cases not singing when backing voices are heard. For one song Patrizio has a full choir backing him, which definitely gives away the fact of the backing tracks. The staging and lighting could have been far better - the scaffolding looks ugly and the walls of The Arena could have been lit better as a backdrop.
The audience don't appear over-enthused with only a small group of girls getting into the spirit by waving their hands in the air.
I wouldn't recommend this to buy as it is not a great video production. It can be seen on TV at times.
