- Redragon Vara Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Reese, South Africa. 5 February 2017
FANTASTIC keyboard! Absolute bargain
Paul, South Africa. 22 March 2017
Its a proper mechanical keyboard, this is my first and I must say its something to get use to the noise mechanical keyboards make, so if this is a problem for you rather look at something else. You wont be able to use this in your bedroom while someone else is sleeping.
Other than this it does the job.
Eugene, South Africa. 7 June 2017
Solid keyboard, if you are not looking for anything fancy, but want the awesome mechanical feel, this is the keyboard for you.
Naasief, South Africa. 8 May 2017
This is one awesome mechanical keyboard. The keyboard is solidly made and very sturdy. The only issue is that the key switches can be a bit loud but other than that its a great keyboard and would definitely recommend
Justin, South Africa. 16 January 2017
Brilliant Mechanical Keyboard. I would buy a second one if stock was available.
Kevin, South Africa. 16 March 2017
For anyone looking for a (relatively) cheap mechanical keyboard, I can very much recommend the Redragon Vara. Good lighting, keys feel amazing and very sturdy build quality. I took a risk and went with a brand I wasn't familiar with, and it worked out really well. For someone who would normally stick with the big brand names when it comes to PC parts, I would recommend this to my friends in a heartbeat. Kind of want to get another, just for when this one eventually gives up the ghost.
Hans, South Africa. 15 August 2017
Fantastic keyboard, well worth the money. Get this keyboard if you want a mechanical keyboard that won't break the bank.
-Solid build quality
-Comfortable key layout
-Only red lights (but to be expected for the price)
Justin, South Africa. 10 April 2017
Excellent build quality, which deserves 5 stars. The loud keystrokes are a downside.
IN, South Africa. 21 March 2017
Really lovely keyboard and I love the MX blue key sound.
Rhyne, South Africa. 14 March 2017
A great compact keyboard, great quality.
Cornel, South Africa. 27 December 2016
Excellent build quality. Switches are loud but very responsive. Problem with the wasd and arrow keys switching positions but just unplug and plug it back in. Good budget keyboard for anyone looking to go mechanical.
Roberto, South Africa. 6 April 2017
Great entry level mechanical keyboard, I like the red backlighting (can also be turned off if desired). My only concern is that some of the bigger keys (like Enter) feel different when pressed than the others which takes a little getting used to. A very sturdy design which is well-made.
Ralph, South Africa. 28 February 2017
Simply and solid keyboard
Coenie, South Africa. 19 January 2017
Quite a neat device, especially for the price.
Nicholas, South Africa. 10 April 2017
The redragon is a great keyboard, and the low price makes it a steal. Just be warned that it is very loud, with cherry blue equivalent keys. If this is your first mechanical keyboard and you aren't used to clicky keys yet, watch some videos with volume comparisons to get a reference point. However if the volume isn't a problem, I highly recommend this keyboard for its solid build quality, great typing experience, and low price.
JvD, South Africa. 29 May 2017
It's a good keyboard for the price. The button presses are not as loud as others have made it out to be, compared to a normal gaming keyboard.
Jandre, South Africa. 28 February 2017
Great keyboard for the price. Feels and sounds great.
Craig, South Africa. 3 January 2017
Would have given this keyboard 5 stars, but the lack of a palm/wrist rest is annoying. The keyboard is high up and you have to kinda hover your hands to be able to type comfortably, as there is nothing to rest them on. The keys are comparable to MX blues, not MX greens as their description says
corna, South Africa. 1 March 2017
it's a great keyboard for the price. It's fine
Michael, South Africa. 5 January 2017
The price to performance and quality ratio for this keyboard is mind blowing. Although it has generic mechanical switches, it still performs really well.
Matt, South Africa. 31 July 2017
I am a little mad after I bought this awesome product for 865 and now it's 815(while reviewing this product). It's a flippen awesome keyboard which if you don't know is mechanical. Would buy it 10 times over again(if I had Thad kind of money). Worth your money? Totally.
Nathan, South Africa. 4 January 2017
My first mechanical keyboard. The quality is very good and typing on it feels so much better than a membrane keyboard.
Divahn, South Africa. 16 January 2017
The keys are comparable to the Cherry MX blue switches , or the razer green switches , only with a bit of a heavier actuation feel .
The build quality is second to none , with a sturdy aluminium and reinforced plastic baseplate.
The keys are very clicky and do make quite a bit of noise ,but it is not distracting.
It has built in media controls as well as a dedicated windows lock button and other external application buttons such as browser and calculator
It also has great led's (vibrant and bright)
if you are in need of a mechanical keyboard , buy this , its awesome
Michael, South Africa. 14 September 2017
I had an old IBM mechanical keyboard that I used to take from PC to PC at work, as they got replaced, and which I always loved. The mechanical keyboards today are really expensive, and since the last gaming I did was Quake, haven't taken the plunge until now.
The keys aren't the same quality as the original IBM ones, but the mechanical feel is far superior to the rubber membrane ones that you typically get these days. It is relatively plain for a mechanical keyboard which suits me, as I typically use this for personal/work (Linux, networks, documentation etc.) in my home office location and for which it's really suited.
If you work in a relatively sterile cube farm, this may not be the best option, as it is quite loud.
Daniel, South Africa. 10 March 2017
Beautiful minimalist design, with amazing mechanical switches. The keycaps are super comfortable and have a great feel. The red LED's shine through the keycaps really brightly as well. Best keyboard for the price.
Alexandre, South Africa. 10 September 2017
Great value for money. Keys are a little too loud but still comfortable and fun. It's heavy and it seems like it could take a beating. I love that.
Matthew, South Africa. 6 April 2017
Solid build and works a charm! Extremely happy with it
Really good, South Africa. 29 March 2017
This is in my opinion the best budget mechanical keyboard you can buy. Outemu blue switches are quite popular and they work really well. Just be aware that this keyboard is very clicky and very loud! Watch some YouTube reviews, most of them cover all there is to know about this keyboard
Dmitriy, South Africa. 30 December 2016
Wow! Definitely worth it. No more strain on the fingers from normal membrane keys. At first I thought it's too loud when typing, but then got used to the activation points and it doesn't make as much noise. Key feedback is great, you will know blindfolded if you made a typo.
Jacques, South Africa. 31 January 2017
So far I am very happy and impressed with the keyboard considering its price. The only issue I have picked up so far is a slight inconsistency in the sound of some of the keys such as Enter and Space Bar which you don't get on the much more expensive mechanical keyboards. That being said I would still buy this keyboard again should I need another one.
Stephan, South Africa. 12 August 2017
Seems to have a solid build quality.
The audible click is about the same noise level as a mouse-click, not sure what all the people complaining about a noise are on about, this is what you're getting if you buy an audible click mech. keyboard. The spring resistance isn't noticeably more than a Cherry MX blue/red and the tactile bump provides some nice haptic feedback.
All in all, what it says on the box. Despite it being a bit of an obscure brand it seems to hold up very well next to my CM Storm.
The only weird thing is how the top of the cover is receded so that the edges are raised above it (can't really see this well in the image provided). I'm assuming it's so that the LEDs are featured more.
Adam, South Africa. 6 April 2017
Brilliant keyboard, I would have loved to be able to change colours.
claude, South Africa. 14 March 2017
Very nice gaming keyboard for its price.
Mick, South Africa. 16 January 2017
Its a great keyboard. The first mechanical keyboard I have owned. The advantages are the keys are very direct as each one has its own switch and it is illuminated for working in dark areas or at night. A word of warning though the keys are VERY loud. It doesn't bother me but it may be an issue for some people. I have heard you can insert a rubber O ring under the keys so I may try that. I would not buy an ordinary keyboard again though after trying this mechanical type. Its for office work not gaming.
Andre, South Africa. 31 March 2017
This is an awesome keyboard, I was unsure if i should buy this keyboard for like 3 months because you think it doesn't make a difference but trust me it does. My fellow gamers invest in this keyboard it has a decent price and the performance is amazing. I am a big gamer and trust me it is worth it, this keyboard makes you feel like a pro gamer, and helps you play like one.Get it now.
Jordan, South Africa. 20 March 2017
First time using a Redragon product and I am definitely going to be using more products from this brand, Amazing product.
Chris, South Africa. 6 March 2017
Really wonderful and great value for money.
I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a mechanical keyboard but is on a budget. I use a razor mechanical keyboard at work and this one at home and must say there isn't much difference. The razor does have the real cherry blue switches and these have some Chinese brand blue switches but they work just as great. I actually prefer these as they are a little bit heavier.
Imran, South Africa. 7 September 2017
good value for money
Matthew, South Africa. 10 January 2017
To my fellow gamers. This is an absolutely amazing mechanical keyboard! For the price you cannot touch this gem! Yes, the switches are clones of MX green switches but I guarentee you will never be able to tell the difference
The build quality is really good
Keys are extremely responsive
What else could you want!
Pride, South Africa. 13 June 2017
The keyboard is cool even though its noisy.
mjk1252, South Africa. 23 March 2017
Was really surprised how good the keyboard was for the price. Had a keyboard before with cherry MX blues and personally I prefer the Outemu key switches found in this keyboard it has a more crisp click and sound. 9/10 would buy again -Majik
