Morne, South Africa. 20 January 2015
Great Hard Disk. Good performance and actually runs cooler than the 1.5 TB Seagate drives I have.
Derek, South Africa. 20 January 2014
Reliable, performs well and large storage capacity. Perfect for a storage array or general purpose use. Very happy with this drive (and the other one exactly like it I bought a few months earlier).
Charl, South Africa. 9 November 2012
Solid drive, performance is good. No complaints at the price.
Aubrey, South Africa. 28 September 2012
Good drive, I only just discovered that Windows 7 can only use 2TB of the drive, I had to use an unlock utility to be able to use the other 700 odd GB which has to be on a separate partition.
Reino, South Africa. 6 May 2015
Had 2 return the 1st One that arrived, faulty. But 2nd one works as expected.
Lorentz, South Africa. 19 July 2013
Good drive to buy, Only thing thou, you need to make sure that your computer and operating system can support 3TB drives, there are a lot of utilities that could help you with this issue, how ever with Windows 7 64-bit you can do this with the computer management tool, there you can convert the drive(if used only for data storage)to a GPT disk which will let windows "see" drives bigger then 2.2TB
Dave, South Africa. 26 April 2015
Excellent product at a reasonable price!
Richard, South Africa. 12 August 2014
Great value for money. No complaints.
Phillip, South Africa. 17 April 2013
This drive works like a charm. It's fully responsive and never had a single issues, been several months now and looking forward to several years ahead.
Wes, South Africa. 29 October 2012
Works well as Im using it to store photos on it. You have to set it up as per windows 7 instructions Google the steps before you start (Easy To Follow)
neil, South Africa. 6 November 2014
Bought one of these drive, it crashed after about 4 days of use, got my replacement drive now, i hope the first one was just the one bad one in the batch. I hope my replacement lasts longer than that.
Johan, South Africa. 15 January 2015
Item as expected, great service
Andries, South Africa. 27 March 2013
Good drive, nice and fast. Can be loud at times.
Sidney, South Africa. 3 April 2014
I can't believe my drive is still empty :O, good drive one thing tho you have to use the seagate disk wizard to use the full 3 tb of storage. there is a video to show you exactly what to do.
Jeffrey, South Africa. 13 May 2014
I swear by these drives, currently have a configuration of 3x 3TB drives in my home server. The oldest drive being well over 2 years old without a single issue.
Claude, South Africa. 15 April 2016
The drive was working well until it wasn't. Six months after purchase it is starting to fail. Wish I knew about the failure rate (https://www.backblaze.com/blog/3tb-hard-drive-failure/) before buying ;(
Deon, South Africa. 26 March 2014
Great drive, had no issues setting up to have all the space available on win7.
Gerhard, South Africa. 5 September 2014
harddrive works great, it runs cool and quiet and Windows 8 had no issues picking up all 3tb.
Timothy, South Africa. 14 April 2016
Load times in games are incredibly fast for a hard drive. Have not had any issues so far. Windows 10 can see the full 3 terabytes (did not need a 3rd party application or a YouTube video to get it to see the full 3 terabytes).
Craig, South Africa. 19 June 2014
Erickson, South Africa. 10 November 2014
Pleasantly surprised by this drives performance, definitely on par with Western Digital drives. Really recommend it to anyone who needs something fast and spacey.
Jacques, South Africa. 12 January 2015
Good product, good price and really nice to have.
Paulo, South Africa. 17 April 2015
Excellent value for money.
Bruce, South Africa. 1 April 2015
It was great while it lasted. Drive was reasonably fast a quiet.
However, after 2 years it has failed. No warning - just one day it disappeared from Windows and the computer would not reboot with it plugged in.
Doing some research, this is not uncommon for this drive.
I would suggest paying a bit more for the 4TB drive. It may only be 5900RPM as opposed to the 7200RPM of the 3TB hardrive, but in my benchmarks, the data transfer rates are very similar.
Raees Ahmed, South Africa. 9 April 2015
The failure rate for this particular model of HDD is scary, I would stay away. BackBlaze had 1163 of them with an annual failure rate of 43%. I've had 2, one of which has failed after just under 2 years so swapped under warranty.
Francisco, South Africa. 31 August 2015
After just receiving a new failed drive, I researched the failure rate of these 3TB drives from manufacturing till installation then lifespan and unfortunately I wont be taking any further chances with these drives.
John, South Africa. 29 March 2016
Solid product. I've been using this one for two years and no issues. It's still chugging away, just like a good drive should.
Vispanathan, South Africa. 15 January 2016
Do not buy, 48% failure on the the 3TB model. Don't take a chance.
Amir, South Africa. 29 January 2016
It worked once after I bought it - quite dissapointed
JOHAN, South Africa. 18 January 2016
very bad , lost all my data on this drive work for a year and just died no power and when you boot it said 120 gig and now 120meg very bad product
Benjamin, South Africa. 14 January 2016
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DRIVE!
ST3000DM001 is well known for having a high failure rate. I have lost two of these drives myself along with all the data mirrored across them.
