- Sega Mega Drive: Arcade Classic - Mortal Kombat Edition (80 Games)

Sadly the mega drive classic is so badly built and the wireless gamepads so unreliable that's its more annoying to use it than anything else.

Awful. That's all there is to it.
The emulation (colors, sounds, speed the games run in) is off. Sonic feels slow. The sounds are terrible. Not even close to the original.
The controllers use line-of-sight tech. Even a slight turn by the user will mean that they'll drop the signal. You're much better off with wired controllers, if you can find them.
The buttons on the controllers also feel strange, and the d-pad is average at best.
The other non-Sega games that are tacked on there are not even good as a filler. Truly bad.
Avoid this and rather purchase the Classic Mini Nintendo. Now that's how it should be done. Not substandard stuff like this.

A good starter console for a little one to start with, as the modern ones are a lot more complex. Neat and clean design. Wish you could get wired controllers for it as well (maybe that will become available?), as it requires that it is always making line-of-sight contact with the infra-red port (and not an easy concept to grasp always). So far, tons of fun, and I'm sure I'll get a turn soon.
For the price, I think this is well worth the hard-earned cash forked out for it.

I purchased this console not too long ago as i was looking for a fun arcade classic console and i was very dissapointed.
- You need to keep the control straight with the console otherwise it does not pick it up
- Mortal Kombat and Sonic is okay but the rest of the games is really bad.
If you are looking for fun classic arcade game then this one is definitely not the one to buy

Great product... relive your younger days (late 80s and 90s) when 8-bit games ruled. Classic favourites include Sonic (the multiple versions that were released) and Mortal Kombat. The controllers could be better, considering the price against the Wii mini (which is in the same price range) controllers.

Awesome service from Takealot as usual. The product itself though is interesting. Only single audio out so all audio out of the device is Mono and not Stereo. Other issue is the controller being inferred which means you have to have line of sight. Slight turn and it does not work. Better to find your old Sega controller and use that. The controller's also do not include batteries so you need 4 x AAA batteries to use it. I think the device itself it fun and nice to have but not perfect from Sega unfortunately.

Wow talk about nostalgia!!!
So happy with this product and the ability to play those old games stored away is amazing!
Wireless controllers are responsive.
Just make sure to get a universal plug adaptor ;)

The IR remotes are a bit annoying you may want to buy the wired controllers. Wish takealot stocked those...

The games are as good as I remember. I grew up on the first generation games like Sega and Nintendo etc. Nice bit of nostalgia. I bought the games as a first introduction to electronic games for my boys aged 5 and 7 as I think it is crazy to pay the R5000 plus for mainstream games like Xbox and PlayStation. My boys love the games and so do I enjoy sharing a bit of youth by playing with them.
